Job summary

Daikin Applied, the world’s largest HVAC company, is hiring a full-time HVAC Apprentice in Salt Lake City, onsite. You will diagnose, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on a range of equipment including rooftop units, chillers, boilers, and water source heat pumps.

Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, inventory management, data entry, and clear communication with customers. Training and safety certifications are provided as part of onboarding and ongoing development.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• HVAC certificate or equivalent or combination of education and experience.
• Valid Driver’s License with acceptable driving record.
• Rotational Emergency Call Support.
• Work visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, and perform preventative maintenance for commercial and industrial HVAC equipment including rooftop units, chillers, boilers and related systems.
• Repair or rebuild HVAC units under supervision, receiving detailed direction from Journeyman and Foreman.
• Drive a company vehicle to and from jobsite and manage inventory of tools and materials.
• Record and report billing, inventory, timecards, and other articles in a timely manner.
• Explain technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences and provide status updates to customers.

In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and performing preventative maintenance for commercial and industrial HVAC equipment. The HVAC equipment you will be servicing includes but is not limited to large and small rooftop units, split systems, chillers, and boilers. Location: Salt Lake City, UT - Onsite

What You Will Do

• Perform and assist in service of equipment including inspecting and testing systems to verify functionality including but not limited to fan coils, water source heat pumps, applied air handling units, rooftop units, cooling towers, and condenser tubes
• Perform and assist in the rebuilding of an HVAC unit. Receive detailed direction while sharing the hands‑on task responsibilities with Journeyman and Foreman
• Drive a company vehicle to and from jobsite. Transport and maintain inventory of hand tools and necessary materials for job completion
• Record and report billing, inventory, timecards, technician tip reports, and other articles as required and in a timely manner
• Basic data entry and ability to navigate the use of email, internet, and word processing programs
• Demonstrate professionalism in appearance, verbal, and written communication
• Interact with customers by offering status reports of service before, during, and after each call
• Explain technical information to both technical and non‑technical audiences
• Participate in available training through regional technician trainers, and off‑site learning modules
• Maintain all required certifications and continue to develop new skill sets
• Complete jobsite hazard assessment prior to initiating service and adhere to Daikin Applied and customer safety policies and OSHA guidelines

Minimum Qualifications

• Accepted as 5th year Apprentice by the union
• High School Diploma or GED
• Technical school with HVAC certificate or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Valid Driver’s License and acceptable driving record
• Rotational Emergency Call Support
• Required license(s) and/or training card as required by local law district
• Work visa sponsorship is not available for this position

Preferred Qualifications

• Member of local union or willing to join the union
• Commercial HVAC Industry Experience
• OSHA 10 within 90 days of hire (Daikin provides this training during onboarding process)
• Current first aid / CPR card
