Job summary

Montgomery County (PA) is seeking a dedicated HVAC/boiler technician to perform maintenance and repair on county facilities. The role requires on-call readiness 24/7 and a focus on safe, reliable operation.

Responsibilities include servicing boilers, air conditioning systems, pumps, cooling towers, and associated components; maintaining water treatment; keeping logs; and reading blueprints and manuals. A valid PA driver's license is required.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of boiler plants, HVAC systems and related safety procedures.
• Ability to read technical manuals, drawings and schematics.
• Experience with water treatment and chemical handling.
• Valid PA driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair boilers and HVAC equipment at County facilities.
• Perform 24/7 on-call duties as required.
• Keep accurate maintenance logs and records.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues with chillers, pumps, and cooling towers.

Job description

Incumbent will be responsible for HVAC and boiler maintenance and repair at the County facilities, as required. All of the aforementioned are on call twenty-four (24) hours per day, seven (7) days per week.

• Boiler Operator.
• HVAC technician.
• Maintain and service all types of air conditioners, circulating pumps, cooling towers, compressors, condensers, evaporators, and all necessary components for the efficient operation of air and heating conditioning systems.
• Maintain and control cooling water treatment as specified for the proper use of the air-conditional system.
• Set-up and maintain the proper temperature balance of air-conditioning units which operate year round with the proper relationship of heating and cooling. Maintain accurate clerical records and logs as provided.

Ability to understand technical literature, prints, drawings and tables (curves, graphs) pertinent to the equipment.

Mechanical skills, knowledge of chemical water treatment and pneumatic controls.

Good inter-personal, oral and written communication skills.

High School Diploma/GED.

Knowledge of boiler plant equipment and systems including the use of alternate fuels.

Ability to make decisions under emergency conditions.

Ability to read and understand blueprints. Technical manuals, operating manuals and codes.

Must have a valid PA driver’s license.
