Job summary

Overland Contracting Inc. in Texas seeks a Substation Journeyman to plan, lay out, install, test and maintain high‑voltage substation wiring and equipment in generating stations and substations.

You’ll work with skilled teams on critical infrastructure projects, following plans, specs and safety standards. The role requires at least four years of substation experience, ability to operate heavy equipment, and strict adherence to safety practices.

Qualifications

• At least 4 years working experience as a Substation Helper or equivalent in an industrial construction setting.
• Strong working knowledge of high voltage electrical and civil industry standards, substation components.
• Must have all necessary tools and be at least 18 years of age.

Responsibilities

• Plan, lay-out, install, test, repair, or maintain high voltage substation equipment as per plans and specs.
• Ensure safety and zero injuries through teamwork and adherence to procedures.
• Identify hazards and follow lockout/tagout and safety protocols.
• Read and follow plans, one line diagrams, P&ID and cable/conduit schedules.
• Operate up to heavy equipment in live substations when required.
