Job summary

Hume Christian Camps at Hume Lake, CA seeks a Facilities Generalist to keep camp facilities safe, functional, and distraction-free for guests. The role focuses on electrical installation, repair, and general upkeep in a faith-based camping environment.

You will perform maintenance across plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and painting, inspect buildings, support seasonal preparations, and maintain tools and equipment to ensure reliable operations for campers and staff.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years experience in the electrical field including installation and repairs in new and remodeling construction.
• Must be able to read and understand construction blueprints, codes maintenance repair manuals, appliance wiring schematics.

Responsibilities

• Assist in general maintenance and repairs of camp facilities, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and painting.
• Perform routine inspections to ensure safety and functionality of camp buildings and grounds.
• Support seasonal preparation of camp facilities (e.g., winterization, summer readiness).
• Maintain and repair camp equipment and tools as directed.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests and facility-related concerns.
• Ensure cleanliness and organization of work areas, storage spaces, and maintenance equipment.
• Follow safety guidelines to maintain a secure environment for campers and staff.
• Work collaboratively with other team members and departments to support camp operations.
• Demonstrate a Christ-centered attitude and actively contribute to the spiritual environment of the camp.

Vision for the Role:

The Facilities Generalist plays a vital role in creating a distraction-free environment for guests by ensuring that Hume Lake facilities are operating safely and functionally. This individual performs work related to electrical installation repair, improvements, relocation, and troubleshooting in new and remodel construction. The technician will also diagnose and repair residential and commercial appliances.

• Perform other related duties and assignments as required. Hume maintains the right to reassign or change duties as needed.

Our Ideal Candidate:

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Evidenced commitment to Jesus Christ and a desire to share the Gospel with others.
• Minimum of 2 years experience in the electrical field including installation, and repairs in new and remodeling construction.
• Must have the ability to read and understand construction blueprints, codes maintenance repair manuals, appliance wiring schematics.
• Must be able to calculate electrical loads.
• Must be able to live in Hume Lake housing.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Willingness to perform physical tasks and work outdoors or indoors as needed.
• Dependable, punctual, and able to work under supervision.
• Must agree with and support Hume Christian Camps’ Statement of Faith.
• Must have a personal commitment to Jesus Christ and a desire to share the Gospel through word and deed.

Physical Requirements:

• The staff member must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds
• Must be able to stand for extended periods of time

• Live and work in extreme weather conditions, at high altitude, and in small living quarters.
