Human Resources Manager, Farming Operations

About The Opportunity

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Human Resources Manager to join our newly established berry farming company. This pivotal role, reporting directly to the General Manager, will be instrumental in building and leading the HR function from the ground up. As the first HR leader on-site, you will have the unique opportunity to shape our organizational structure, establish HR strategies, and influence the culture of our growing operation. This position will initially be hired as a Driscoll’s temporary employee, with an expectation for this position to transition into a full-time role within the new legal entity once operations are fully established.

Responsibilities include day-to-day HR administration, developing and executing strategic HR initiatives, and supporting a high level of customer service in collaboration with farm managers, supervisors, and employees, aligned with our Mission, Vision, and Values.

Responsibilities

• Manage HR Staff: Set goals, provide coaching, recommend succession planning, and oversee HR team development.
• HR Management and Administration: Maintain employee data, oversee compensation and benefits, manage workforce surveys, update employee handbooks, and ensure HR reporting.
• Performance Management: Support performance assessments, development plans, and ensure legal compliance.
• Training: Coordinate compliance training and learning programs.
• Recruitment / Staffing: Develop labor recruitment plans, manage hiring processes, and handle employee relations investigations.
• People Business Partner: Support labor and talent needs, lead HR initiatives, and provide coaching on employee relations and succession planning.

Candidate Profile

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience; Master’s preferred.
• 8-10 years of progressive HR experience, with experience establishing HR practices or building HR teams preferred.
• Certifications like HRCI/PHR or SHRM-CP/SCP are preferred.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish required.
• Knowledge of CA labor laws and HR best practices.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
• Proficient with HRIS, Microsoft Office, and able to travel between Oxnard and Santa Maria.

Compensation & Benefits

Estimated salary range: $130,000 to $160,000 USD. Driscoll’s offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, paid sick leave, and an Employee Assistance Program. Details will be shared during the application process.
