Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Human Resources Manager 2 to lead a dispersed HR team supporting the Weapons Integration and Mission Solutions unit. The role partners with HRBP peers and COEs to drive talent strategies, succession planning, and organizational effectiveness.

The position requires senior leadership presence, strategic thinking, and strong communication. On-site work in McLean, VA or Linthicum, MD is expected, with travel up to 10% and a DoD Secret clearance for consideration.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR or related discipline with a minimum of 7 years of progressive HR experience.
  • Master’s degree in HR or related discipline with a minimum of 5 years of progressive HR experience.
  • Solid track record in overall HR management and as trusted advisor and people leader.
  • Superb communication skills and the ability to establish strong rapport and credibility as a forward-looking thought leader.
  • Must be able to work on-site in McLean, Virginia or Linthicum, Maryland.
  • Must be able to travel as needed (up to 10% of the time).
  • Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance.

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems Sector is seeking a Human Resources Manager 2 to join our growing Human Resources (HR) team in McLean, Virginia or Linthicum, Maryland. The selected candidate will lead a team of geographically dispersed HR professionals aligned to support the Weapons Integration and Mission Solutions (WIMS) Business unit, lead/manage the operating unit HRBP team, and partner collaboratively across peer HR Manager and HRBP teams.

The selected candidate will possess depth and breadth of knowledge across HR functions to include talent acquisition, talent management, succession planning, organizational effectiveness, compensation, and employee relations. International experience and experience working in a matrix organization is a plus; demonstrated skills in planning, organizing, and coordinating with cross-functional relationships required.

Responsibilities
  • Establish strong business relationships with client leadership teams and create effective partnerships across HR, centers of excellence (COE’s), functional and P&L organizations
  • Proactively identify trends, risks, and opportunities within the organization and develop solutions in partnership with HR business partners, division, BU and OU leadership, and COEs
  • Recommend and implement winning practices employed in the areas of talent acquisition, assessment, development, compensation, organizational effectiveness, strategy, onboarding, change management and communications
  • Analyze and concisely present information to the management team to enable good business decisions
  • Using data and analytics, develop solutions and insights to address current business issues and proactively engage in risk mitigation
  • Leverage and partner with HR colleagues in talent acquisition, compensation and benefits, employee relations, global corporate responsibility and organizational effectiveness to support talent strategies
  • Provide day-to-day people leadership of HRBP team and create an environment that accelerates development of HR talent; apply rigorous knowledge management to capture learning, drive continuous improvement, and enhance employee engagement
  • Play a key change leadership role in the company’s continual transformation by creating a culture of growth, innovation and risk taking
  • Partner with business leaders to build leadership depth to support the succession planning process. Support and enable leaders to make informed decisions about talent and to hold their organizations accountable for business results

This position has significant senior leadership contact and requires a candidate with strong leadership and decision-making skills with the ability to perform in an environment of ambiguity and continuous change. Position must role model Northrop leadership behaviors and have strong communication, executive presence and cross-cultural skills. This positive must effectively interact with a geographically disbursed senior leadership team and positively influence business growth from an organizational and talent perspective.

Basic Qualifications
  • Must have one of the following:
    • Bachelor’s degree in HR or related discipline with a minimum of 7 years of progressive HR experience
    • Master’s degree in HR or related discipline with a minimum of 5 years of progressive HR experience

  • Proven ability to influence for impact at all levels and develop an internal network to gain support for best HR practicesAbility to navigate cultural and business sensitivities to champion belonging, performance, and employee engagement
  • Must be able to work on-site in McLean, Virginia or Linthicum, Maryland
  • Must be able to travel as needed (up to 10% of the time)
  • Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Business, Human Resource Management, Organization Development, Industrial Psychology, Management, or related field
  • Three+ years of people management experience
  • International HR experience
  • Experience with Workday Human Resources Information System
  • Superb communications skills and the ability to establish strong rapport and credibility as a forward-looking thought leader
  • Currently has a U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance

Primary Level Salary Range: $127,100.00 - $199,700.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
