Job summary

Transdev is seeking an HR professional to join our team in California. The role requires partnering with operations on HR issues, interpreting policies, and ensuring compliance across hiring, payroll, and leave management.

You will coach staff, maintain confidentiality, and liaise with the Division HR Director in a fast-paced, in-person environment. The ideal candidate has 5–7 years of HR experience, a related degree, and prefers individuals with a PHR or SPHR credential.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Consults with operations management on HR issues related to hiring, compensation, training and development, disciplinary actions and terminations.
  • Interprets and assists with the understanding of HR policies and procedures.
  • Manages compliance issues and identifies local risks, planning mitigation.
  • Manages the hiring process including candidate screening, hiring, onboarding, payroll, and leaves of absence.
  • Acts as liaison between unit and Division HR Director.
  • Coaches and mentors staff; assesses performance and provides feedback.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all information.

Assists unit leadership in understanding and communication of HR policies and procedures, along with handling compliance issues

Pay Rate: $79,040 - $113,360

Key Responsibilities:
  • Consults with operations management on human resource issues related to hiring, compensation, training and development, disciplinary actions and terminations.

  • Manages the hiring process including candidate screening, hiring, new employee set-up, payroll, and leaves of absence.
  • Serves as the liaison between the unit and the Division Human Resource Director.
  • Coaches and mentors assigned employees; assigns work according to availability, skills, and developmental needs; assesses performance and provides feedback to direct reports.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all information.
  • Other duties as required.
Required Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent, such as GED, required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business or related field preferred.
  • PHR or SPHR preferred.
  • 5 - 7 years of relevant human resource experience, including recruiting, selection, and employee relations required.
  • Understanding of employment laws and regulations.
Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs):
  • HRIS, ADP, and investigative experience preferred.Travel requirement outside of the immediate area (10%-15%).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills that convey complex ideas in a simplified manner.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills: ability to interact professionally with culturally diverse individuals during a time of crisis and distress
  • Must be well organized, detailed oriented, have strong problem-solving skills, work comfortably under pressure and deliver on tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work on their own initiative and as part of a team.
  • Confident and skilled in using GSuite (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms)
  • Bias for action, excellent attention to detail and relentless commitment to follow-through
  • Proven track record of sound decision making, taking ownership, and delivering results
  • Ability to adapt well to fast-paced environments with changing circumstances.
Location & Travel Requirement:

This is a fully in-person position. The successful candidate must reside in San Francisco, Sacramento, Mountain View or Atwater and be able to travel to the other three markets at least once per month. Regular travel between markets is an essential function of this position, and the candidate must be able to reliably meet these requirements as a condition of employment.

Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed.
  • 100% of work is accomplished indoors and in air conditioned or well-ventilated facilities
  • Work is primarily accomplished in an office or in a cubicle space equipped with a computer and telephone
  • Must be able to work at different worksites depending on need.
  • The employee is generally subjected to long periods spent sitting, typing, or looking at a computer screen.
Pre-Employment Requirements:
  • All Transdev employees must satisfactorily complete a pre-employment drug screen and background check. Safety Sensitive Positions will also be subject to a physical screening
  • Transdev maintains a Drug Free Workplace and may require participation in a random drug screening program.
