Vesta is seeking a hands-on Human Resources Manager to serve as a trusted HR partner and visible presence for our Los Angeles team. Based in our Los Angeles warehouse and office, this is a fully in-person role for someone who enjoys being close to the business, building relationships with employees and managers, and solving problems in real time.

Reporting to the VP of Human Resources, the HR Manager will be a broad-based generalist with particular strength in employee relations. You'll support employees and managers across the full employee lifecycle: from onboarding and day-to-day HR support through performance management, investigations, leaves, and off-boarding - while helping ensure our HR practices are consistent, compliant, and scalable as Vesta grows.

This role will also oversee the day-to-day management of our Pico Rivera office, helping create an organized, welcoming, and high-performing workplace for both our corporate and warehouse.

Compensation

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $95,000-$115,000 annually. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with managers on employee relations matters, including performance concerns, coaching, corrective action, attendance, workplace conflict, and separations

  • Conduct prompt, thorough, and objective workplace investigations and maintain clear, accurate documentation

  • Coach managers on effective people management practices and the consistent application of company policies

  • Help identify employee trends and recurring issues and partner with HR leadership on proactive solutions

  • Support employee engagement, retention, and culture initiatives, with a particular focus on creating a strong employee experience across both warehouse and corporate populations

HR Operations & Employee Lifecycle

  • Manage and continuously improve the onboarding and offboarding experience, ensuring employees have a smooth and consistent experience from their first day through their last

  • Maintain accurate employee data and documentation across Vesta's HR systems and personnel records

  • Support the administration and optimization of HR systems, workflows, reporting, and processes

  • Partner with Payroll, Benefits, Recruiting, Finance, Operations, and other teams to resolve employee questions and ensure accurate, timely HR administration

  • Support leaves of absence, accommodations, workers' compensation, and other employee programs in partnership with internal and external resources

  • Assist with policy development, implementation, and employee communications

  • Help ensure compliance with federal, California, and local employment requirements and maintain organized, audit-ready employee records

  • Support employee events, meetings, celebrations, and other activities that strengthen connection and engagement

  • Serve as a point person for workplace issues and help ensure they are addressed quickly and effectively

  • Use HR data and employee feedback to identify opportunities to improve processes and the employee experience

  • Pitch in wherever needed. We are a growing company, and the right person will be comfortable moving between strategic HR work and the practical day-to-day needs of our employees and workplace

Requirements

  • 5+ years of progressive Human Resources experience, ideally in a generalist, HRBP, or HR Manager capacity

  • Strong hands-on experience with employee relations, including investigations, performance management, corrective action, and terminations

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build credibility with employees at every level of the organization

  • Highly organized and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

  • A practical, hands-on mindset. You're willing to tackle the small things as well as the big ones and take ownership when something needs to get done

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience; PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification is a plus
