Job summary

Heartland Bank and Trust Company in Bloomington, IL seeks a Human Resources Generalist I to partner with managers and employees across all business units, supporting the full employee lifecycle with a wide range of HR functions and fostering a healthy, productive workplace.

You will handle employee relations, assist with terminations and unemployment claims, contribute to staff communications, and help lead recognition and engagement programs, while ensuring compliance with HR policies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources with at least 2 years HR experience or equivalent.
• PHR or SHRM-CP certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Monitor HR queue and answer general questions for all areas of HR while escalating inquiries to others as needed.
• Serve as a resource to management and employees to resolve employee relations concerns and provide guidance regarding policy questions, disciplinary actions, investigations and terms.
• Assist with employee terminations and exit interviews when needed, as well as attend unemployment hearings and respond to claims.
• Assist with preparing and recommending staff communication, newsletter articles, and HR-related policies, procedures and programs.
• Lead or assist with all aspects of the employee recognition programs, engagement initiatives, as well as assisting with employee relation programs and events.
