Job summary

Backcountry is seeking an experienced HR leader to guide a multi-country HR team across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. You will shape people strategy, lead executive-level HR initiatives, and drive transformation in a dynamic, multi-brand environment.

You will oversee performance management, learning and development, and M&A integration from the HR perspective, partnering with leadership to enhance engagement and capability across the portfolio.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of progressive HR experience, including time as an HR business partner.
  • 3+ years of people management experience; global or multi-country team leadership preferred.
  • 2+ years of learning and development experience designing and delivering training programs.
  • Demonstrated experience with M&A and acquisition integration from an HR perspective.
  • Track record supporting business transformation and change initiatives.
  • Experience working across diverse employee populations (corporate, retail, distribution).
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to operate effectively across time zones.

Responsibilities

  • Lead M&A integration processes from the HR side — org design, onboarding, policy harmonization, and culture alignment.
  • Partner with management and stakeholders to support business transformation and change initiatives through people strategy.
  • Work closely with brand leadership to create and sustain employee engagement programs that enable excellent performance across a multi-brand environment.

What You'll Do
Team Leadership & HR Capability
  • Lead and develop a team of HR managers across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, building programs that raise HR capability in each location.

Talent & Performance Management

Interview Process
  1. Recruiter Screen - A 30-minute conversation with our recruiting team to align on the role, your background, and what you are looking for.
  2. Hiring Manager Interview - A conversation with the VP, Human Resources focused on leadership philosophy, HR strategy, and experience with M&A integration and business transformation.
  3. Executive Interview - A discussion with senior leadership on portfolio-level people strategy, organizational priorities, and cultural fit.
  4. Panel Interview - A session with cross-functional stakeholders to assess collaboration, communication, and approach to complex people challenges.
  5. In-Person Interview - We'd like to meet you at our Salt Lake City office. Details and logistics will be arranged with your recruiter.
  6. Reference Checks - Conducted in parallel with the final stages where possible.
  7. Offer - We move quickly for the right candidate.
