POSITION OVERVIEW
The Human Resources Director serves as the senior HR leader for Flynn Pizza Hut and a strategic partner to the Brand President, Division Vice Presidents, senior Operations leaders, field leadership, and Flynn Group HR leadership.
This role owns the people strategy for the brand, including organizational effectiveness, leadership development, talent management, succession planning, culture, engagement, workforce planning, employee relations, and risk management. The HR Director provides direction to the field HR Business Partner team and partners across Operations, Talent Acquisition, Learning & Development, Total Rewards, HR Operations.
Success requires a proven HR leader who can translate business priorities into practical people strategies, influence senior leaders, develop successors, strengthen organizational capability, and deliver measurable business and talent results. Candidates located in NC, SC, GA, or FL are strongly preferred.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Business Partnership
- Serve as a trusted thought partner to the Brand President and senior leadership on organizational structure, leadership effectiveness, talent, culture, workforce planning, engagement, performance, and risk.
- Serve as the primary HR partner to assigned Division Vice Presidents.
- Translate business priorities into an integrated people strategy aligned with Flynn Group and Flynn Pizza Hut objectives.
- Use workforce, turnover, staffing, engagement, succession, and performance data to identify trends, recommend actions, and measure progress.
- Assess organizational needs, identify performance gaps, and establish short- and long-term people priorities.
- Operate independently, identify opportunities proactively, and drive execution.
Talent Management & Succession
- Own the brand’s talent management and succession strategy, building internal pipelines for Restaurant General Manager, Area Director, Market Leader, Division Vice President, and other critical roles.
- Lead a consistent talent-review process evaluating performance, potential, readiness, succession depth, retention risk.
- Partner with Operations leaders and the Manager of Development to assess talent pipelines, bench strength, readiness, and succession risk.
- Coach leaders on talent assessment, performance management, succession, development, and accountability.
- Track internal promotions, bench strength, critical-role readiness, regrettable turnover, leadership vacancies, and succession coverage.
Leadership Development & Performance
- Partner with Training & Development and Operations to identify performance and capability gaps.
- Help develop and implement leadership programs that strengthen operational leadership and organizational capability.
- Coach and develop leaders across all levels of Flynn Pizza Hut.
- Support goal setting, feedback, coaching, development planning, performance management, and accountability.
- Lead through others by building capability and achieving results through influence and partnership.
Field HR Leadership
- Provide leadership, direction, coaching, and support to the Flynn Pizza Hut field HR Business Partner team.
- Establish clear priorities and expectations for HRBP execution across markets.
- Drive consistency in HR practices while allowing appropriate flexibility for local business needs.
- Ensure HRBPs operate as strong partners to Operations, focusing on talent, engagement, employee relations, staffing, performance, and business results.
- Develop HRBP capabilities through coaching, development planning, best-practice sharing.
- Model a collaborative, team-first leadership approach that strengthens the broader HR organization.
Culture & Employee Engagement
- Champion Flynn Group culture and restaurant environments aligned with the Premier Card.
- Develop culture, engagement, and recognition initiatives supporting the employee experience.
- Partner with Operations to identify engagement opportunities and develop action plans.
- Connect culture and engagement to retention, performance, guest experience, and business results.
Talent Acquisition & Onboarding
- Partner with Talent Acquisition leadership to ensure recruiting strategies, processes, systems, and tools support brand talent needs.
- Provide input on workforce priorities, critical openings, leadership hiring, talent markets, and future staffing requirements.
- Improve recruiting effectiveness, candidate experience, selection quality, time to fill, and retention with TA and Operations.
- Support onboarding for internal and external leaders and reinforce Flynn Pizza Hut’s culture and expectations.
Employee Relations, Compliance & Risk
- Provide leadership on complex employee-relations matters and investigations.
- Ensure employee concerns receive consistent, timely, and appropriate responses.
- Support compliance with applicable employment laws.
- Identify employment-related risk and partner with stakeholders on mitigation strategies.
- Monitor employee relations, turnover, complaints, investigations, and other people trends to identify opportunities for proactive intervention.
- Partner with Flynn Group HR and Legal resources.
- Lead rollout and adoption of Flynn Group and Flynn Pizza Hut people initiatives.
- Coordinate HR system changes, process improvements, communications, testing, training, and implementation.
- Partner with Operations to drive field adoption and accountability.
- Gather field feedback and identify opportunities to improve HR programs, systems, tools, and processes.
- Lead large-scale people initiatives from strategy through execution with clear ownership, alignment, adoption measures.
- Serve as an active member of the Flynn Group HR Leadership Team.
- Partner with HR leaders across brands and Support Center functions to share best practices and strengthen organizational effectiveness.
- Contribute to enterprise-wide initiatives addressing key people and business priorities.
- Represent Flynn Pizza Hut’s needs and perspective in broader HR discussions.
SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS
- 8+ years of progressive HR experience, including leadership responsibility in a complex, multi-unit, geographically dispersed organization.
- Experience in restaurants, hospitality, retail, or another high-volume, multi-location environment strongly preferred.
- Experience leading HR Business Partners, field HR professionals, or comparable people leaders.
- Demonstrated success delivering measurable talent and business outcomes, including retention, succession depth, leadership development, internal promotions, and bench strength.
- Experience partnering with and influencing senior Operations executives.
- Strong business judgment, executive presence, confidentiality, and ability to navigate complex organizational challenges.
- Highly self-directed with the ability to prioritize, identify opportunities, and drive execution independently.
- Ability to develop leaders, coach teams, build organizational capability, and achieve results through influence and accountability.
- Strong knowledge of employee relations, employment law, performance management, talent management, succession planning, organizational development, and engagement.
- Strong business and financial acumen with the ability to connect people strategies to operational results.
- Strong analytical skills and experience using workforce metrics and business data to guide decisions.
- Ability to lead change across a large, decentralized organization.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Psychology, Organizational Development, related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
- SHRM-SCP, SPHR, or similar HR certification preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, HR systems, applicant tracking systems, and workforce analytics tools.
- Ability and willingness to travel extensively, often 2–3 weeks per month, to support field operations.
