Job summary

Hermann Services in Houston, TX is seeking an HR Business Partner to oversee talent acquisition, employee engagement and performance management across 3 TX locations. You will ensure payroll accuracy, administer benefits, and steer employee relations while maintaining compliance with US employment laws.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field, with education-experience mix required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in human resources management, preferably in transportation or warehousing.
  • Strong knowledge of US employment laws and regulations.
  • Proven experience in talent acquisition, employee engagement, and performance management.
  • Experience with payroll processing and benefits administration.
  • Experience with HRIS and payroll software.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement talent acquisition strategies to attract qualified candidates in transportation/warehousing.
  • Manage employee engagement programs to improve culture, satisfaction and productivity.
  • Oversee performance management: goals, evaluations, development plans, disciplinary actions.
  • Administer payroll processing and promptly address payroll queries.
  • Manage benefits administration and employee enrollment.
  • Serve as point of contact for employee relations, resolve conflicts and coach leaders.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws; update policies as needed.

About the Role:

The Human Resources Business Partner in the transportation and warehousing industry plays a pivotal role in fostering a productive and compliant workplace environment. This position is responsible for overseeing all facets of human resources functions, including talent acquisition, employee engagement, and performance management, ensuring alignment with organizational goals. The HRBP will lead initiatives to enhance employee relations and administer benefits and payroll processes accurately and efficiently across the SW Region. They will also ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations, mitigating risks and promoting fair labor practices. Ultimately, this role drives the development and retention of a skilled workforce that supports the operational success of the company across the United States.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field., and / or combination of education and experience (Required).
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in human resources management, preferably within the transportation or warehousing industry.
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations applicable in the United States.
  • Proven experience in talent acquisition, employee engagement, and performance management.
  • Experience with payroll processing and benefits administration.
  • Experience working with HR information systems (HRIS) and payroll software.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Professional HR certification such as SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or PHR.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with experience managing HR teams.
  • Advanced knowledge of transportation and warehousing industry-specific workforce challenges.

  • Serve as a key point of contact for employee relations issues, resolving conflicts, coach leaders on best practices, and promoting open communication.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, updating policies as necessary.
  • Collaborate with leadership to align HR initiatives with business strategies and operational needs across all locations.
Skills:
  • Must have advanced skills in Microsoft Office: Power Point, Excel, Outlook, Word, HRIS & Payroll systems (Required); ADP Workforce Now (Preferred)
  • Must have strong leadership skills including the ability to hire, coach, counsel, train, and mentor employees in the Transportation and Logistics departments.

  • Willing to work overtime as needed to meet business needs.
  • Ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple projects and competing work demands.

Physical Requirements

Position is based in Houston, TX; Supports the HR operations for 3 locations in TX: Cavalcade / East Sam Houston / Dallas.

Works in a standard office environment with travel to other locations as needed (i.e. other facilities, staff events, training, etc.).

  • Must be able to lift to 20 pounds, on occasion, such as office products and supplies.
  • Must be willing to work overtime when required as per business needs.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently is required to communicate via phone and in person, stand, walk, use hands and fingers, reach with hands and arm, and to sit at a desk and use a computer for prolonged periods of time, with reasonable breaks.
