Role Summary
Reporting to the Senior Human Resources Business Partner, the HR Business Partner holds primary responsibility for HR operations, employee relations, and organizational development for a specified client group/plant location in Newton, KS.
This role is responsible for organizational design, performance management, employee engagement, development of HR programs, and change management for specified business units. We are looking for an astute HR Business Partner with expertise in employee relations, policy administration, leadership development, and labor/OSHA compliance. You are a servant leader who acts with integrity and discretion to serve as a trusted advisor to plant operations and leadership.
HR Business Partnership & Strategy
- Serve as the key HR liaison between Operations and HR, aligning HR services with business objectives and identifying strategic growth opportunities.
- Partner with senior leadership to build organizational capabilities, behaviors, structures, and processes.
- Lead corporate and cross-functional HR projects determined by the annual HR plan.
Employee Relations & Engagement
- Manage all employee relations activities within assigned client groups in accordance with sound administrative practices and company values.
- Conduct effective, thorough, and objective internal investigations to resolve complex employee issues.
- Develop and execute proactive employee engagement programs to improve working relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
Talent & Performance Management
- Champion the Talent Management Process, ensuring timely, accurate, and fair performance assessments.
- Support managers in talent pipeline forecasting, succession planning, and workforce planning.
- Conduct employee orientations and training programs to prepare staff for new assignments and track training program success.
Workforce Analytics & Compliance
- Assist business leaders in analyzing workforce size, experience, and skills required to achieve long-term objectives.
- Interpret federal and state labor laws and policies, providing guidance to leadership and employees to maintain compliance.
- Audit manufacturing plant practices and records to ensure compliance with company programs, state/federal laws, and occupational safety regulations.
Safety & Plant Operations
- Promote health and safety awareness through internal communications, newsletters, and specific training initiatives.
- Champion the Strategic Labor Relations Plan for the facility and lead processes to capture desired policy or practice improvements.
Qualifications & Requirements
Required Education & Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Management, or a related field required.
- Experience: 3–5+ years of progressive HR/Employee Relations experience required.
- Problem-Solving & Agility: Strong problem-solving, prioritization, and time-management skills with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Technical & Functional Skills
- Employee Relations: Intermediate to advanced skill in managing complex employee relations and investigations.
- Safety & Compliance: Familiarity with OSHA reporting, regulations, and workplace compliance.
- HR Systems: Tech-savvy with experience learning new systems (HRIS/Workday experience preferred).
- Software: Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
Preferred Qualifications
- HR experience in a manufacturing, industrial, distribution, production, or big-box/wholesale retail environment.
- Certifications: SHRM-CP or PHR certification preferred.
- System Experience: Hands-on experience using Workday.
