The Human Resources team plays a key role in building strong leaders, fostering positive employee relations, and supporting a high-performing, compliant, and engaged workforce across Retail Stores, Corporate Offices, and Distribution Centers.

Position Summary

As a Human Resources Business Partner, you will serve as a strategic advisor and trusted partner to field and corporate leaders. This role is responsible for consulting on talent management, employee relations, performance management, compensation practices, HR policies, and workplace safety.

The HRBP plays a critical role in shaping culture, driving employee engagement, and supporting change management initiatives across the organization. The ideal candidate brings strong business acumen, sound judgment, and the ability to balance compliance with compassion—particularly in a multi-state retail environment.

This role requires strong working knowledge of California employment law.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic HR Partnership & Talent Management
  • Partner with leaders to identify and develop high-potential talent and succession plans aligned to organizational goals
  • Monitor career progression and support development strategies for emerging and established leaders
  • Coordinate employee development plans and performance management initiatives
  • Model effective leadership behaviors to reinforce training standards and organizational expectations
Employee Relations & Workplace Culture
  • Provide employee relations guidance, conduct investigations, and support resolution of workplace concerns
  • Foster open communication, trust, and positive working relationships across all levels of the organization
  • Promote HR programs and initiatives designed to create a respectful, inclusive, and high-performing workplace
  • Enhance employee engagement by addressing concerns promptly and supporting team-building initiatives
Policy, Compliance & Risk Management
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, including California labor law
  • Assist with the implementation and consistent application of HR policies and procedures
  • Support Store Managers with annual performance evaluations and employee-related processes
  • Oversee HR support for Retail Stores, Corporate Offices, and Distribution Centers
HR Operations & Continuous Improvement
  • Analyze HR data and trends to inform decision‑making and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Provide feedback and recommendations to leadership on talent, engagement, and compliance risks
  • Execute HR initiatives with accuracy, consistency, and attention to detail

Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned to support business and organizational needs.

Qualifications
Required
  • 3–5 years of related HR experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Strong working knowledge of employment law and HR best practices
  • Proven ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with professionalism and discretion
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and time management skills
  • Ability to travel as needed
Preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field
  • SHRM or HRCI certification
  • Experience supporting retail, multi‑site, or distribution environments
