Job description

Position Summary

The Benefits Coordinator is a key member of the Total Rewards Team, supporting the administration of employee benefit programs across the organization. The role supports general HR and benefits inquiries through an HR inbox and helps troubleshoot employee benefits, ensuring a compliant, efficient, and positive experience for a multi‑state workforce. This position also serves as backup support for employee leaves of absence, reporting to the Sr. Director of Total Rewards.

The salary range for this position is $25.50 – $35.66 per hour, depending on budget.

Essential Job Functions / Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as a frontline resource for employee benefits questions related to medical, dental, vision, HSA/FSA, retirement, wellness, and voluntary benefits programs.
  • Troubleshoot enrollment issues and carrier discrepancies in partnership with vendors and internal teams.
  • Research requests and maintain an ongoing understanding of benefit plan questions.
  • Support open enrollment and ongoing benefit communications and initiatives.
  • Serve as backup for employees’ leave requests, including FMLA, state‑specific paid and unpaid leave programs, Colorado Paid Family and Medical Leave (FAMLI), California Paid Family Leave, company medical and personal parental leave policies, and STD and LTD coordination.
  • Support audits, reporting, and compliance documentation related to leaves, benefits, and eligibility.
  • Maintain accurate leave records in HRIS and tracking systems.
  • Ensure all benefit‑related records are complete, accurate, and compliant.
  • Maintain confidential employee and benefits records in compliance with HIPAA, company policies, and applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s or Bachelor’s preferred).
  • At least one year of experience in benefits, leave administration, HR, or a related field.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs)
  • Core employee benefits programs and eligibility rules.
  • Familiarity with multi‑state compliance considerations.
  • Understanding of FMLA regulations and leave administration practices.
  • Experience using HRIS and benefits administration systems.
  • Strong case‑management and organizational skills.
  • Clear, professional communication with employees and vendors.
  • High attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
  • Ability to troubleshoot benefit and leave issues across multiple systems.
  • Customer‑focused problem‑solving approach.
  • Ability to manage confidential and sensitive information.
  • Ability to explain complex regulatory and benefits concepts clearly.
  • Ability to prioritize effectively in a high‑volume environment.
  • Ability to collaborate cross‑functionally.
  • Ability to adapt to regulatory updates and evolving processes, and identify opportunities for process improvement and operational efficiency.
Work Environment and Physical Demand

Ability to stand, type, and sit at a desk/computer for most of the work shift, executing repetitive movements.

No adverse or hazardous conditions.

Not required, but preferred to be able to occasionally lift, push, or pull 25 lbs. individually or with assistance.
