We’re looking for an HR Assistant/Volunteer Coordinator who is detail-oriented, organized, and service-driven—someone who enjoys working with people and problem-solving.

We are seeking a detail-oriented, organized, and service-driven HR Assistant / Volunteer Coordinator who enjoys working with people and problem-solving.

In this role, you will play a key part in our day-to-day HR operations, supporting both employee onboarding and volunteer coordination. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, values accuracy and accountability, and takes pride in supporting a mission-driven organization.

What You'll Do
  • Serves as a Volunteer Coordinator; conducts volunteer orientations and introduces volunteers to Boys & Girls Clubs of Central and Northern New Hampshire policies and procedures while ensuring that all of the required documentation is complete and accurate.
  • Supports employee onboarding, including new hire paperwork, communication with candidates, and scheduling onboarding meetings during high-volume periods.
  • Guides employees through onboarding systems including ADP, Employee Navigator, and NH Connections. Responsible for policy review.
  • Oversees accurate completion of compensation and benefit documentation. Monitors employee eligibility for benefit plans. Reviews benefits with employees and processes enrollment, cancellation, or changes through the Employee Navigator.
  • Acts as a first point of contact for employee and volunteer questions; elevate inquiries to the HR Director as needed.
  • Maintains different HR and organizational systems, including but not limited to; payroll system, Employee Navigator, and different internal tracking tools while maintaining accurate data.
  • Ensures that background checks are processed according to set policy and that other licensing and BGCA requirements are met. Tracks and informs employees and volunteers when they need updated documents and background checks.
  • Ensures compliance with Form I-9 requirements and conduct periodic audits.
  • Assists with workers' compensation claims, unemployment requests, and employment verifications.
  • Understanding of labor laws. Participates in ongoing learning to stay current with HR best practices and labor laws.
  • Performs file audits and reporting, ensuring employee records are complete, accurate, and compliant.
  • Communicates regularly with Finance and Operations regarding new hires, payroll updates, and onboarding needs.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality of all employee and organizational information.
  • Provides general administrative support including filing, scanning, and record maintenance

Requirements
  • 1-2 years of experience in an administrative or HR support role.
  • Must be organized and have meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and be flexible.
  • Must be able to prioritize and plan work activities efficiently.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly, both written and verbal, to communicate with employees, members of the management team, and in group presentations and meetings.
  • Travel between locations when requested. (Only occasional travel may be required.)
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative
  • Dependable, responsive to direction, and open to feedback for continuous improvement
  • Willingness to travel occasionally between program locations
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • All of the candidates who are offered a job with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central and Northern New Hampshire will have to submit for an FBI fingerprint background check and submit to a background check through the State of NH Criminal Records Dept. and First Advantage. Note: The State of NH Childcare Licensing Bureau may prohibit you from being employed by the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central and Northern New Hampshire should there be a disqualifying finding on your criminal record. In addition, even if the State of NH reviews your records and allows you to work at the Club, we still reserve the right to determine your employment status.
