Human Resource Data Specialist

About the Indiana State Personnel Department (INSPD): As an agency operating a shared services model, we provide the executive branch of the state government with top-notch Human Resources services. INSPD has a dedicated team of human resources professionals working in many capacities, including director-level, generalists, and specialists in each discipline of human resources. Salary Statement: The salary for this position traditionally starts at $37,648.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are as follows:

  • Partners with all State agencies utilizing the HR PeopleSoft system by reviewing, auditing, approving, or requesting correction for employment actions taken with an employee or contingent worker, to include hire/rehire, all leave administrations, promotions, demotions, department/reports to or location changes, transfers, pay adjustments, and personal information changes.
  • Utilizes the ASM ticketing system for questions and manual workflow from customers. Ensures that status updates are entered timely manner and accurately depict the situation to enable seamless assistance to the customer base.
  • Assists as needed or requested related to the maintenance of employee records for Long-Term Disability.
  • Researches and prepares various reports using Excel, Tableau, and other reporting tools.
  • Assist with file maintenance per the personnel file retention guidelines.
  • Responds timely to customer inquiries within 48 business hours.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

  • Ability to use a human resource information system (HRIS) at an intermediate to advanced level.
  • Ability to follow instructions.
  • Ability to operate commonly used manual and automated office equipment.
  • Ability to work with a variety of Microsoft Office software products at an intermediate to advanced level.
  • Ability to type in a timely and accurate fashion.
  • Ability to perform a variety of tasks simultaneously.
  • High level of organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Specialized knowledge of personnel forms and their purpose.
  • Ability to attend to detail and maintain accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Ability to effectively communicate.
  • Able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

You must satisfy the following requirements to continue employment.

  • Considerable knowledge of the State of Indiana’s human resources functions, systems, processes, procedures, and practices.
  • Considerable knowledge of the departmental functions and the organization of the agency.
