Job summary

The Salvation Army Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center Hawaii is seeking a Performing Arts Instructor (Hula) to teach hula to students of all ages. The role is part-time/on-call, based at the Kroc Center Hawaii in Ewa Beach, with duties that support the center's mission to provide quality arts education and training in performing arts.

The ideal candidate has at least two years of dance/theater experience, strong classroom management, and excellent communication skills, with a minimum age

Qualifications

• Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
• Two years dance and/or theater experience.
• Demonstrated classroom management skills.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and small-group instruction to students of all ages with varying artistic abilities; adjust class outlines and teaching approach to ensure student development.
• Provide necessary lesson plans for everyone, group or program to Creative Arts & Education Manager at least two weeks before class is scheduled to begin.
• Display interest, dedication, and enthusiasm for improving the community through visual and performing arts education.
• Evaluate each student's growth, performance, and performing arts understanding. Provide corrective and positive feedback to ensure progressive development.
• Prepare individuals and groups for participation in end-of-the-session events and special performances.
• Teach all scheduled classes for everyone, group or program, beginning and ending on time.
