Job summary

Bernalillo County is seeking a Housing Inspector III in Albuquerque to inspect and certify housing units for HUD standards, identify needed repairs, and coordinate maintenance to meet program requirements. You will negotiate leases, attest rent reasonableness, and manage related records.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Business or related field or three years of related job experience.
• Three years of job-related administrative experience; two years as housing inspector.
• Certification as Housing Quality Specialist and supervisory/training courses are preferred.
• Proficiency in information systems and accurate data entry.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and certify housing units for compliance with HUD standards and codes.
• Identify maintenance and rehab needs to meet housing standards.
• Negotiate leases and attest rent reasonableness with owners/managers.
• Investigate tenant/landlord complaints and review eviction/vacate claims.
• Maintain records of inspections, contracts, and services; support HUD programs.
