Job summary

Motion Recruitment is seeking an Information WAF Security Engineer for a long-term contract in Charlotte, NC (hybrid). The role focuses on securing web apps with WAF controls and DNS/load balancing policies, in a major financial services environment.

Ideal candidates have 4+ years in information security engineering, strong HTTP/S expertise, and experience with JIRA/Kanban and enterprise change management. This position is contract-based and intersects with multiple enterprise teams.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of Information Security Engineering experience.
• In depth knowledge of HTTP/S, Web Applications and Web Application Security Controls.
• Solid understanding of DNS, geographic, and local load balancing and firewall policies for HTTP/S.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to resolve issues across complex systems.
• Experience using JIRA/Kanban in a product model.
• Experience with enterprise change management.

Responsibilities

• Consult on or participate in moderately complex Information Security Engineering initiatives.
• Review and analyze Information Security Engineering challenges requiring in-depth evaluation.
• Contribute to resolutions and ensure compliance with policies and security requirements.
• Collaborate with client personnel in Information Security Engineering.
• Configure and support layer 7 web security controls (rate limiting, WAF, geolocation, mTLS, certificates) for internet-facing apps.

Required Skills & Experience

• 4+ years of Information Security Engineering experience, or equivalent
• In depth knowledge and experience with HTTP/S, Web Applications, and Web Application Security Controls required.
• Must have solid understanding of DNS, geographic, and local load balancing and firewall policies supporting HTTP/S.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to identify root causes and resolve issues across complex, multi-layer enterprise systems.
• Prior experience working in a product model using JIRA/Kanban.
• Experience working with enterprise change management.

What You Will Be Doing

• Consult on or participate in moderately complex initiatives and deliverables within Information Security Engineering and contribute to large-scale planning related to Information Security Engineering deliverables.
• Review and analyze moderately complex Information Security Engineering challenges that require an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.
• Contribute to the resolution of moderately complex issues and consult with others to meet Information Security Engineering deliverables while leveraging solid understanding of the function, policies, procedures, and compliance requirements.
• Collaborate with client personnel in Information Security Engineering.
• Responsibilities include configuring and supporting layer 7 web security controls (rate limiting, web application firewall (WAF), bot, client lists, geolocation, mTLS, certificates) in support of internet-facing web applications.
