Job summary

Unissant, Inc. is seeking an HSI Data Subject Matter Expert (SME) to join our team and support Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and the National Targeting Center–Investigations (NTC-I).

The ideal candidate will combine deep knowledge of financial investigations and trade-based money laundering with advanced analytical skills to identify high-priority threats and generate actionable leads against TCOs, FTOs, and SDGTs.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 7–10 years of experience in financial investigations or related law-enforcement environments.
  • Experience with investigative case management systems, law enforcement databases, or similar tools.
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to produce written analytical products.

Responsibilities

  • Perform data fusion across investigative systems to identify trends and high-risk entities.
  • Convert findings into clear lead packages for HSI field offices, analysts, and task forces.
  • Deconflict investigative data and maintain analytic integrity.
  • Collaborate with HSI agents and analysts to translate data into actionable recommendations.

We are seeking a HSI Data Subject Matter Expert (SME) to join our team and support our client. The ideal candidate will combine deep knowledge of financial investigations and trade-based money laundering with advanced analytical skills, enabling Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and the National Targeting Center–Investigations (NTC-I) to identify high-priority threats and generate actionable leads against Transnational Criminal Organizations (TCOs), Foreign Terrorist Organizations (FTOs), and Specially Designated Global Terrorists (SDGTs).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform data fusion across HSI investigative and law enforcement systems to identify trends, patterns, and high-risk entities.
  • Convert analytical findings into clear, actionable lead packages that support HSI field offices, HSTFs, and operational targeting priorities.
  • Conduct deconfliction of investigative data, ensuring analytic integrity and avoiding investigative overlap.
  • Provide subject matter expertise on enforcement programs, workflows, and investigative best practices to analytic and operational stakeholders.
  • Integrate law enforcement and intelligence data to map networks, discern relationships, and highlight key facilitators of trafficking, smuggling, and money-laundering activities.
  • Collaborate directly with HSI Special Agents, analysts, and task force partners to translate complex data into operationally useful recommendations.

Work Experience and Job Skills

  • Minimum 7‑10 years of experience in financial investigations, trade-based money laundering, illicit finance, or related law‑enforcement/investigative environments.
  • Proven experience working with investigative case management systems, law enforcement databases, or similar tools in a federal or law‑enforcement setting.
  • Strong analytical skills in pattern recognition, anomaly detection, and trend analysis using large, multi‑source datasets.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce written analytical products and briefings that drive operational decisions.
  • Experience collaborating with cross‑functional investigative, analytic, and operational teams.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment with time‑sensitive priorities and shifting requirements.

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree is required. Preferred field of study in Criminal Justice, Intelligence Studies, Finance, Economics, Data Analytics, Information Systems, or related field of study.
  • Advanced degree (e.g., Master's in Intelligence, Data Analytics, or related field) preferred.

Certificates, Licenses and Registrations

  • Relevant professional certifications in financial crimes, anti-money laundering, intelligence analysis, or data analytics are preferred (e.g., CFE, CAMS, intelligence analysis certificates).

Communication Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present complex analytical findings to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Ability to write clear, concise, and objective analytical products in a highly confidential, law‑enforcement environment.

Clearance Requirements

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a clearance is required.

Travel

  • Occasional travel may be required to support coordination with field offices or task force partners.
  • Mainly a routine office environment.
  • May be required to lift up to ten (10) pounds.
  • Flexible in working extended hours.
