Job summary

Air Liquide is seeking a Health, Safety, Environmental, and Security (HSES) Specialist at Mount Bethel, PA. The role emphasizes safeguarding employees, contractors, and the environment through proactive prevention programs and compliance activities.

The candidate will support projects, conduct root‑cause analyses, and deliver training while coordinating with site leadership to uphold safety standards. Strong communication, analytical, and teamwork skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Science, Engineering, Safety or a closely related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience in Occupational, Environmental, Industrial Hygiene, or related field.
  • Must be and remain clean shaven at all times.
  • Valid employment authorization in the U.S. and no need for visa sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Ability to wear a full‑face tight‑fitting respirator and a fully encapsulated (Level A) ER suit, SCBA, or other tight‑fitting respirators.
  • Ability to medically pass a respiratory test and physical test required for use of a full‑face respirator.
  • Physical fitness, including ability to lift 50 pounds and climb ladders.
  • Strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Focus on the health, safety and well‑being of employees and contractors through prevention of injuries/illnesses and protection of the environment.
  • Resolve issues through immediate action or longer‑term planning.
  • Provide technical support for all areas of safety, health, environmental, security, transportation and industrial hygiene compliance, policy, and excellence.
  • Provide HSES support for ongoing and future projects and daily site activities.
  • Guide and assist with root‑cause investigations, site inspections, site audits, waste and wastewater sampling and reporting.
  • Develop and provide contractor, visitor, new employee, and other training.
  • Assist with completion of Safe Work and other Life‑Saving Permits.
  • Participate in job safety analysis, process hazard analysis, management of change and pre‑startup safety reviews.
  • Assist with development and maintenance of site chemical management and chemical Right‑to‑Know systems and policies, including Safety Data Sheets.
  • Organize and maintain HSES performance, compliance, policy and procedural information, including electronic backup of critical information.
  • Research and keep informed of pertinent state and federal laws and regulations (OSHA, EPA/FDEP, DOT).
  • Conduct or participate in incident investigations for root‑cause analysis.
  • Monitor and complete action items generated from inspections and incident investigations.
  • Actively participate on site Safety Committees.
  • Prepare and present monthly safety meetings.
  • Provide on‑floor HSES coaching and recognition.
  • Assist with implementation and support of ALAM HSES Team goals and responsibilities.
  • Be available, approachable, and willing to help others with HSES questions and/or concerns.
  • Assist with waste management, disposal and compliance.
  • Elevate significant health, safety, environmental and security issues.
  • Conduct or coordinate industrial hygiene monitoring as necessary.
  • Identify improvement opportunities and implement as appropriate.
  • Develop and provide Site Emergency Response Team training and guidance.
  • Successfully complete all assigned trainings.

Salary Range: $80k – $100k based on experience. Annual Bonus & benefits. Travel: 0% based on business needs. Work schedule: 8‑hour shift, Monday–Friday (on‑call).
