Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED with 5+ years of job-related experience.
  • Experience in construction safety is a plus.
  • CP SA/CIH/CHMM/OHST/CHST are nice to have but not required.
  • Working knowledge of federal, state and local health and safety and environmental regulations.
  • A demonstrated passion for HSE and an ability to role model the expected behaviors.
  • Experience working in manufacturing, construction, or facility maintenance.
  • Experience in contractor management, oversight of permitting for high-risk work and fall protection plans.
  • Proficiency in audits, inspections, and incident investigations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in managing HSE programs and initiatives to meet regulatory requirements and client needs.

  • Support contractor pre-qualification, onboarding, planning, and ongoing HSE monitoring.
  • Conduct daily field audits of active jobsites to verify compliance.
  • Lead EHS programs to meet client needs and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in accident, incident, near-miss reporting, recording and investigation in line with procedures.
  • Coach stakeholders in HSE tools, processes, and responsibilities.

About the Role:

This HSE Supervisor is part of the Environment Health and Safety function. They are responsible for organizational programs and procedures to safeguard employees and surrounding communities. We are looking for a HSE Supervisor to join and strengthen our PJM site-level team. This role will support the management of EHS (Health, Safety and Environmental) programs relative to a major international Life Sciences / Pharmaceutical account in West Point, Pennsylvania.


This is a hands on, site-based HSE role suited to someone from a construction background, ideally with experience supporting manufacturing sites in highly regulated environments.

What You’ll Do:


  • Assist in managing HSE programs and initiatives to meet regulatory requirements and client needs.

  • Promotes visible leadership and a strong culture of safety, health, and wellbeing across the PJM team, contractors, suppliers, and subcontractors.

  • Work closely with the site PJM team to ensure site-specific contractor plans, project safety requirements, and the appropriate hierarchy of controls are embedded into project execution.

  • Assists the project management team with contractor safety oversight to ensure compliance with all client requirements and applicable regulations. Focuses on the development of JSAs/JHAs, preparation of required project documentation, hazard identification, and review of high-risk permit activities, including fall protection, LOTO, excavations, line breaking, and crane and rigging operations.

  • Support contractor pre-qualification, onboarding, planning, and ongoing performance monitoring from an HSE perspective.

  • Support contractor compliance to policy and safety requirements through daily field audits of active jobsites.

  • Assists in leading EHS programs and initiatives to meet regulatory requirements and the specific needs of the client account.

  • Support accident, incident, near-miss reporting, recording, and investigation in line with company and client procedures.

  • Coach and support the PJM team and other stakeholders in the use of HSE tools, processes, and techniques, ensuring they understand and fulfil their HSE responsibilities.


What You’ll Need:


  • High School Diploma or GED with 5+ years of job-related experience.

  • Experience in construction safety is a plus

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Certified Hazardous Material Manager (CHMM), Occupational Health and Safety Technician (OHST), Construction Health & Safety Technician (CHST) are nice to have but not required.

  • Working knowledge of federal, state and local health and safety, and environmental regulations is essential. Direct experience dealing with contractor management, regulatory agencies and/or compliance officers is preferred.

  • A demonstrated passion for HSE and an ability to role model the expected behaviors.

  • Experience working in manufacturing, construction, or facility maintenance needed.

  • Must have experience in management of contractors, oversight of permitting related to high-risk work and fall protection plans, policies & safety procedures.

  • Must have proficiency in conducting audits, inspections, and incident investigations.

  • Experienced knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Examples include Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.

  • Good oral and written communication skills

  • Client-focused approach.
