Job summary

Gates is seeking an HSE Coordinator at our Poplar Bluff plant to develop, implement, and oversee health, safety, and environmental programs that ensure regulatory compliance and promote a safe, sustainable workplace.

The role requires proactive monitoring, continuous improvement initiatives, and partnership with stakeholders to enhance workplace safety and environmental accountability across processes, services, and products, with leadership of the facility safety team.

Qualifications

  • 2–4 years of progressive Health, Safety, & Environmental (HSE) experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
  • Experience with Lean problem-solving tools (8D/A3), incident investigation, and root cause analysis.
  • Proven ability to develop and deliver HSE training programs.
  • Training in ergonomics, machine guarding, and first aid response.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA 1910, EPA, DOT, and other safety and environmental regulations.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety and environmental regulations (OSHA, DOT, EPA).
  • Maintain HSE Standards under ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 to assess and mitigate risks.
  • Conduct internal audits and inspections with recommended corrective actions.
  • Perform and update HSE risk assessments per Gates Safety Kaizen guidelines.
  • Handle regulatory reporting and record-keeping for OSHA and environmental compliance.
  • Enhance and maintain regulatory programs for continuous improvement.
  • Conduct self-assessments of HSE and Management systems for compliance.
  • Lead the facility safety team to foster a safety-focused culture.

This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) programs to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and promote a safe and sustainable work environment. The position requires proactive monitoring, continuous improvement initiatives, and partnership with stakeholders to enhance workplace safety and environmental accountability.

Key Responsibilities (to name a few)
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety and environmental regulations, including OSHA, DOT, and EPA standards.
  • Maintain Gates HSE Standards under the ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems to assess and mitigate health, safety, and environmental risks.
  • Conduct internal audits and inspections, recommending corrective actions as needed.
  • Perform and update HSE risk assessments in alignment with Gates Safety Kaizen guidelines and internationally recognized standards to mitigate workplace safety and environmental hazards related to processes, services, and products.
  • Handle regulatory reporting and record-keeping for OSHA and environmental compliance.
  • Enhance and maintain regulatory programs to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Conduct Gates HSE and Management system self-assessments to evaluate compliance and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Lead the facility safety team to foster a culture of safety and compliance.
About You
  • 2-4 years of progressive Health, Safety, & Environmental (HSE) experience required.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.

  • Eligible for 3 weeks of paid vacation + 11 holidays (9 scheduled & 2 floating) + 8 sick days. All vacation days are accrued
