Job summary

Danville Community School District is seeking a dedicated HS Volleyball Assistant Coach for the summer season. The role supports the Head Coach in developing the high school program, planning practices, and guiding student-athletes in skill development and sportsmanship.

You will assist with game-day prep, player mentorship, recruitment efforts, and administrative tasks while promoting a positive team culture and strong academics.

Qualifications

• Valid Iowa Coaching License required.
• Previous coaching experience, preferably at high school level.
• Extensive knowledge of volleyball and coaching techniques.
• Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes.
• Commitment to fostering a positive team culture and sportsmanship.

Responsibilities

• Training and Skill Development: Assist in planning and conducting practices and provide skill instruction for individuals and positions.
• Game Day Support: Assist with warm-ups, equipment setup, and in-game decisions with the Head Coach.
• Player Mentorship: Foster positive relationships and promote academic success and sportsmanship.
• Recruitment and Retention: Assist in recruiting and retaining student-athletes for the volleyball program.
• Administrative Support: Coordinate team events, travel, and communications with parents; maintain attendance and performance records.
• Collaboration: Work with Head Coach and staff to ensure a cohesive coaching approach and attend meetings.

High School Volleyball - Assistant Coach

Overview : The Assistant Volleyball Coach at Danville Community School District will work closely with the Head Volleyball Coach to support the development and success of the high school volleyball program. This position requires a dedicated and knowledgeable individual with a passion for coaching, mentoring student‑athletes, and contributing to the overall success of the team. The Assistant Volleyball Coach will assist in organizing and executing practices, implementing coaching strategies, and providing valuable support to the coaching staff.

  • Assist in recruiting and retaining talented student‑athletes for the volleyball program.
• Administrative Support:
  • Assist with administrative tasks, including coordinating team events, travel arrangements, and communication with parents.
  • Help maintain accurate records of player attendance, performance, and other relevant information.
• Collaboration:
  • Work collaboratively with the Head Coach and other coaching staff to ensure a cohesive and unified coaching approach.
