Job summary

Xavier College Preparatory High School in Phoenix, AZ seeks an Athletic Assistant Coach for Track and Field (Javelin). The role supports the head coach in delivering safe, instructionally sound practice and competition experiences for high school athletes.

Under the supervision of the principal and athletic director, you will help maintain equipment, supervise venues, and promote academics alongside athletic success, while adhering to diocesan and NFHS guidelines.

Qualifications

• Minimum qualifications include Catholic teacher preference, compliance with Diocese of Phoenix employment requirements, Safe Environment Training and Code of Conduct, FBI fingerprint clearance, and desirability of a current Arizona driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Instruct athletes in fundamental skills and strategy for track and field events, especially javelin; promote the Pursuing Victory with Honor program; maintain discipline and morale.
• Supervise and evaluate staff performance, ensure safety and proper equipment maintenance, and manage program operations within NFHS, AIA, and diocesan guidelines.
• Coordinate supervision of student‑athletes in all practice and competition areas; assist with academics and college recruiting in collaboration with guidance staff.
• Communicate effectively with faculty, staff, parents, and recruit scholarship opportunities in partnership with athletic director and counselors.
