Paycom is seeking a Lead Teacher to oversee the day-to-day operations of the Head Start center at Lewis HS in Hohenwald, TN. You will provide leadership to staff and serve as a liaison with families and the central office.

Responsibilities include planning lessons, maintaining student records in ChildPlus, ensuring health and safety, and supporting family engagement initiatives under the supervision of the Program Coordinator.

Qualifications

  • Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field; ability to pursue a Bachelor’s degree.
  • Three years of Early Childhood experience (Required).
  • Two years of supervisory experience (Preferred).
  • BA/BS in Early Childhood Education or related field (Preferred).
  • Bilingual (Preferred).

Job Details: Job Location: Lewis HS - Hohenwald, TN, Position Type: Full Time, Education Level: 2 Year Degree, Salary Range: $26.99 - $32.58Hourly, Job Category: Nonprofit - Social Services, Introduction:Lead Teacher will oversee the day-to-day operation of the assigned Head Start center. The employee will provide leadership and supervision to all center staff and serve as a liaison to the central office, parents and community, as well as organize classroom space and equipment to meet the individual needs of children enrolled including the provision of activities in all areas reflecting Early Childhood Development Practices, which will encourage children to: initiate activities, solve problems, explore, experiment, question and learn by doing. The employee works under the supervision of the Program Coordinator. The employee will be capable of operating modern office equipment. The employee may be exposed to dust, dirt, foul odors and other factors due to the breakdown of some equipment or systems. The employee shall adhere to the National Smoke Free Environment Policy Public Law 103-227, Pro-Children Act of 2001 42 U.S.C. 7181 through 7184 and TN Licensure Rule 1240-04-01-12(14).Section 1 – Job PerformanceQuality of WorkComplete and submit lesson plans that reflect planning for individuals, small and large groups according to procedures, including IEP goals and objectives as needed.Ensure that Teaching Strategies Gold reflects accurate information on each child.Promote and respect children and families’ culture by providing experiences and learning materials that are representative of children’s cultures.Utilize computer and ChildPlus program to enter, maintain and monitor data for recordkeeping and tracking purposes according to program calendar.Maintain record of children’s attendance and progress with virtual services.Ensure family style dining.Complete work assignments remotely as needed.Job KnowledgeManage daily operations of a Head Start Center including staff, services and facilities.Ensure classroom/playground interactions and activities are age and developmentally appropriate, as well as aligned with the Head Start Philosophy/Licensing Regulations.Monitor classroom and playground for health and safety concerns according to proceduresUse screenings, ongoing assessments, information from parents and other staff to meet the learning needs of each child.Gather, maintain and review data on Child Outcomes three times per year in Teaching Strategies Gold according to program calendar.Ensure that all screenings, assessments, and observations on each child are conducted/completed according to program calendar and Policies and Procedures; ensuring all required information is contained in each child’s file.Ensure that modifications are made to include children with special needs.Monitor and follow-up with LEA referrals. Follow Disability and Mental Health procedures and submit appropriate documentation (including Treatment Tracking) to Disabilities and Mental Health Coordinator.Ensure Family Partner regularly schedules and conducts center Parent meetings and that accurate minutes are recorded.Complete annual information packets for State Licensing RequirementServe as a resource for content area providing direction and guidance as needed.InitiativePrepare materials and supplies in advance for activities.Complete daily health inspections and follow up documentation.Complete and submit accident reports to Head Start Health Coordinator in the required timeframe.Recruit and maintain a current roster of qualified substitutes and ensure appropriate coverage for absent employee(s).Monitor and participate in an on-going recruitment program targeting low income and disabled children and complete applications for HS/EHS.Secure and document in-kind contributions, volunteer time, and community support and submit to Administrative Coordinator.Ensure all paperwork is accurate and submitted timely.Provide monthly reports to supervisor.Section 2 - Personal PerformanceDependabilityEnsure sanitation, hygiene procedures and health practices are strictly adhered to daily and assist in the daily maintenance of the center.Ensure all Monthly reports are submitted accurately and timely to appropriate staff. This includes CSS monthly report, Center Monthly Checklists, CSS calendar.Ensure accurate and timely approval and submission of employee time, attendance and mileage reports.Attendance & PunctualityEnsure all paperwork is accurate and submitted timely.Regular attendance and timely arrival to assigned work site.Submit accurate and timely employee time, attendance and mileage reports.Relationship Building SkillsMentor and supervise teacher assistant, nutrition worker, CCSW, substitutes and volunteers. Submit copies of sub trainings to area CSS.Ability to establish and maintain a cooperative working relationship with children and parents.FlexibilityProvide activities for families to support their skills and encourage developmentally appropriate learning for the changing needs of the child.Communication SkillsLearn and express key words in children’s home language.Establish effective communication with families through monthly calendars, newsletters, home visits and parent/teacher conferences.Ensure staff performance concerns are addressed timely and documented accordingly. Communicate concerns to Program Coordinator.Organize and conduct regularly scheduled center Staff meetings and ensure that accurate minutes are recorded and submit to the Professional Development CoordinatorEnsure communication with Program Coordinator is maintained via e-mail and phone calls.Participate in the screening, interviewing and hiring of center staff.Communicate with the Administrative Coordinator regarding staff degree requirements and enrollment in college courses as needed.Encourage families to complete In-Kind contributions to promote family involvement within the Head Start program.Demonstrate operational knowledge of Internet and Web-related technologies.Encourage child and family participation and lead children’s discussions to keep them active and engaged in learning.TeamworkAssist Family Partner with applications, completing enrollment packets and obtaining health documentation.Contact DLL Educator to assist in interpretation/translation services as needed.Coordinate and work with Dual Language Learner (DLL) Educator to assist in providing services for DLL children and families.Assist in the compilation and completion of Self-Assessment/Community Assessment and participate in the analysis of data for training and planning purposes.Customer ServicesComplete and submit LEA referrals according to Disabilities and Mental Health proceduresFollow up on family emergency needs and referrals, as needed.Assist in ongoing recruitment targeting children from low-income families, children with disabilities and pregnant women, and complete HS/EHS applications as needed.Adhere to Agency’s HS/EHS confidentiality policy, professional ethics and standards, demonstrating work habits which comply with Agency Personnel Policies and Procedures.Section 3 – Personal ImprovementDecision MakingEnsure implementation of State Licensing Regulations, Head Start Performance Standards, agency policies and procedures.Manage assigned budget responsibilities and determine center purchasing needs.Review and modify job descriptions, plans, policy and procedures as needed.Supports Quality ImprovementEnsure CLASS scores for center are at or above threshold.Prepare and implement group and/or individual on-site training for all center staff. Submit completed training agendas and sign in sheets to Training Coordinator.Plan and participate in schedule management team meetings, staff meetings, conferences, training sessions, workshops, and In-Service as assigned.Conduct targeted training when identified needs occur.Explore and share ongoing ideas/solutions for program and content area specific improvement.Professional Development GrowthAttend training and in-service as assigned.Participate in and conduct in-person and virtual meetings/training.Qualifications: Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education, Human Services or a related field; and ability to work continuously toward Bachelor’s degree; Bachelor’s Degree (Required)Three years Early Childhood experience.
