Job summary

Warden School District High School in Warden, WA is seeking a High School Assistant Volleyball Coach to support the head coach with organizing the volleyball program, conducting practices, and motivating student athletes in game strategies and techniques.

DESCRIPTION: Position is responsible for assisting the head coach with organizing the Volleyball program at the assigned school. Position assists with conducting practices, motivating students and instructing student athletes in game strategies and techniques.

  • Must possess effective coaching techniques and skills.

  • Some experience as a Volleyball coach or assistant coach at the high school or college level preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists the Head Volleyball coach with instructing players in the rules, regulations, equipment and techniques of the sport.
  • Organizes and directs individuals and small group practice activities/exercises as directed by the head Volleyball coach.
  • Assesses player’s skills, monitors players during competition and practice, and keeps the head Volleyball coach informed of the athletic performance of students.
  • Assists with determining game strategy.
  • Assists the head Volleyball coach with supervising athletes during practices and competition.
  • Follows established procedures in the event of an athlete’s injury.
  • Models sports-like behavior and maintains appropriate conduct towards players, officials and spectators.
  • Maintains the equipment room in orderly condition and assumes responsibility for its security.
  • Distributes equipment, supplies and uniforms to students as directed by the head coach.
  • Participates in special activities to include parent’s night, banquets, award nights and pep assemblies.
  • Performs support tasks such as distributing and maintaining eligibility forms, emergency data cards and other related records.
  • Models nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.
  • Attends staff development meetings, clinics and other professional activities to improve coaching performance.
  • Preforms any other related duties as assigned by the Head Volleyball Coach, Athletic Director, Building Principal and/or the Superintendent.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, or consistent with the subject being taught, but can be abnormally loud on occasion.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally work in outside weather conditions and be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, temperature fluctuations, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals commonly used in instruction and/or cleaning. It may be expected that the individual could be exposed to blood or other potentially infectious materials during the course of their duties. The employee may be exposed to infectious disease as carried by students.

The employee may be required to travel in school owned or leased vehicles while supervising and assisting students.
