Job summary

GE Vernova seeks an HRSG Field Engineer to oversee installation and commissioning on customer sites in the United States. You will manage site mobilization, civil works, erection, commissioning, and related activities, ensuring adherence to QESH standards and project timelines.

You will review welding docs, provide technical support to GE Vernova engineering, supervise lifting plans, and ensure proper documentation and safety throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

  • Requires experience in Project Management & Construction and Commissioning, comparable to a Bachelor's degree or relevant experience.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma with 0-3 years of experience in Job Family/Function).

Responsibilities

  • Oversee site activities related to installation and commissioning of HRSG and associated equipment.
  • Assist the Erector in installing HRSG components, including piping and auxiliary systems.
  • Interpret sketches and drawings for construction; ensure installation of pressure parts, equipment, modules, and piping per requirements.
  • Review HRSG installation method statements for safety and effectiveness.
  • Report deviations with quality records/NCRs and follow up to resolution.
  • Ensure documentation (ITPL, reports, quality docs) provided by subcontractors during turnover certification.
  • Support resolution of technical issues with GE Vernova engineering via ER cases.
  • Review welding documents (WPS, welder qualifications) before welding activities.
  • Implement and enforce safety protocols for heavy lifting during HRSG installation.
  • Review lifting plans considering site constraints and conditions.
  • Ensure piping installation and testing per project specs.
  • Oversee HRSG hydrotests and preservation measures post-test.
  • Validate cleaning methods and safety valve settings meet specs.
  • Ensure waste disposal complies with environmental standards.
  • Identify and resolve site interferences during installation and testing.
  • Issue progress reports to Construction Manager, Site Manager, and Installation Lead.
  • Prepare and execute HRSG tests, performance tests, and reliability runs.
  • Use P&ID for system checks; support instrumentation testing and checks.

Job Description Summary

The HRSG Field Engineer is responsible for overseeing and executing tasks related to the installation and commissioning of Heat Recovery Steam Generators (HRSG) at customer sites. This includes managing site mobilization, civil works, erection, commissioning, and related management activities.

The role requires strict adherence to Quality, Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) standards, and applicable processes, ensuring completion within the agreed time frame and budget.

The position affects departmental operations, involving planning and execution of activities. While the role operates with some autonomy, it primarily focuses on executing tasks within established functional practices and procedures, requiring judgment and guidance as needed.

Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
  • Oversee site activities related to the installation and commissioning of Heat Recovery Steam Generators (HRSG) and associated equipment.
  • Assist the Erector in the installation of HRSG components, including piping and auxiliary systems, ensuring compliance with design specifications.
  • Interpret sketches and drawings for construction, ensuring installation of pressure parts, equipment, modules, and piping according to specified requirements and installation sequence.
  • Review and ensure that HRSG installation method statements are prepared safely and effectively.
  • Report commercial and technical deviations with quality records/non-conformance reports (NCR) and follow up until resolution.
  • Ensure all necessary documents, such as Inspection Test Plans (ITPL), reports, and quality documentation, are provided by subcontractors/partners during system turnover certification.
  • Support resolution of technical issues with GE Vernova engineering using the reporting system tools, such as submitting Engineering Request (ER) cases for site installation clarification.
  • Review welding documents, including Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and welder qualifications, prior to commencement of welding activities.
  • Implement and enforce strict safety protocols for heavy lifting activities during HRSG component installation.
  • Review lifting plans proposed by installation companies, considering site constraints and conditions.
  • Ensure HRSG piping installation and testing are conducted according to project specifications.
  • Oversee the performance of HRSG hydrotests, and ensure preservation measures are implemented post-hydrotest.
  • Validate cleaning methodologies, chemical cleaning processes, and safety valve settings meet specifications.
  • Ensure waste disposal, including test media, adheres to local environmental standards.
  • Identify and resolve site interferences during installation and testing phases across disciplines.
  • Issue progress reports to the Construction Manager, Site Manager, and TK/SI Installation Leader.
  • Prepare and execute HRSG tests, performance tests, and reliability runs.
  • Utilize Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID) for system checks.
  • Support the setting and testing of instrumentation and logical checks (e.g., pressure and temperature transmitters, vibration detectors, position switches).
Required Qualifications
  • This role requires some experience in the Project Management & Construction and Commissioning. Knowledge level is comparable to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma with relevant experience).

About Us

For U.S. based candidates only, for purposes of complying with U.S. pay transparency requirements, the base pay range for this position is$69,600-$104,400 USD Annually.

The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for a Variable Incentive (VIC) bonus of 5%.

*The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas.
