Etsy is seeking an HR Business Associate to support Senior HRBPs and the teams they partner with. You will handle routine employee questions, learn HR processes, and participate in talent initiatives while developing the skills needed for HRBP work.

You’ll work closely with managers and employees, handling performance and development processes, compensation activities, and headcount tracking. This role emphasizes ownership, curiosity, and a proactive approach to HR challenges.

What’s the role?

As an HR Business Associate, you’ll support several more senior HR Business Partners and the managers and employees of the teams they support across Etsy. You’ll own assigned work, handle straightforward people questions using established policies and practices, and seek guidance on complex or sensitive matters. You’ll build skills in employee relations, performance, compensation, and hiring through hands‑on work, shadowing, and feedback from experienced HRBPs. This role is a first step into HR Business Partnering for someone who takes ownership, follows through, is curious, and wants to learn.

What does the day‑to‑day look like?

• - Deliver assigned work that supports more senior HRBPs, with clear expectations and guidance as needed.
• - Answer straightforward employee and manager questions using established best practices and policies, bringing complex or sensitive matters to an HRBP or Employee Relations partner.
• - Help managers navigate performance and development processes and resources, with guidance from more senior HRBPs on individual situations.
• - Own defined steps in performance cycles, promotions, engagement surveys, and compensation planning, including tracking deadlines, preparing materials, and following up on outstanding actions.
• - Gather and analyze people data on a regular basis, such as headcount, attrition, and engagement. Check accuracy and share observations with HRBP teammates to inform their work.
• - Support team‑level organizational changes and headcount tracking through accurate documentation.
• - Lead small, well‑defined projects with short timelines. Keep partners informed and flag obstacles early.
• - Maintain HRBP processes and resources, and suggest improvements based on recurring questions or observable gaps.

Qualities that will help you thrive in this role are:

• - 1-3 years of experience in HR (including functions outside of HRBP), or a related field.
• - Clear, tactful communication and the ability to work respectfully with people across backgrounds, locations, and work modes.
• - Curiosity about Etsy’s business, and the ability to ask questions to clarify employee needs, leader priorities, and HR goals.
• - Sound judgment on straightforward issues, considering the facts and employee and business needs, and knowing when to seek guidance.

• - Comfort using spreadsheets and other tools to organize data, check accuracy, and identify patterns.
• - The ability to prioritize based on urgency and complexity, meet deadlines, and communicate when capacity or priorities change.
• - Foundational knowledge of HR processes and policies, and a habit of seeking and applying feedback.

Compensation & Benefits

In addition to salary, you’ll be eligible for an equity package, an annual performance bonus, and our competitive benefits that support you and your family. Base salary is determined by your location, skills, and experience.

Etsy uses two geographic pay zones to reflect the labor markets where we compete for talent: one called Geo-1, covering the New York City metropolitan area, San Francisco Bay Area, and Seattle metropolitan area, and one called Geo-2, covering all other U.S. locations. Salary ranges for this role vary by zone and are listed below.

Location

We prioritize candidates based within commutable distance of Etsy’s Brooklyn Office. Depending on proximity, we ask team members to come in once or twice per week. Remote candidates outside commutable distance may be considered on a case‑by‑case basis, with the expectation of occasional travel to the office. Salary Range:

• Geo-1: 94,000.00 - 127,000.00 USD Annual
• Geo-2: 84,000.00 - 114,000.00 USD Annual
