Job summary

Howmet Aerospace Inc. Fontana, CA, is seeking an experienced HR professional to lead payroll, recruiting and leave of absence administration under general supervision.

This role partners with site leadership to implement HR initiatives that improve workforce planning, engagement, and compliance with company policies. You will analyze HR data, ensure policy compliance, handle employee relations investigations, and support management with effective HR programs across a 200+ employee manufacturing

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Human Resources, Business, or Organization Development or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3+ years of progressive leadership experience in Human Resources positions.
  • Specialized training in employment law, compensation, organizational planning, organization development, employee relations, safety, training, and preventive labor relations, preferred.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status.

Responsibilities

  • Compiles and analyzes HR data; administers payroll and related reports.
  • Leads recruiting efforts and partners with management on staffing needs.
  • Manages leave of absence programs and attendance actions per policy.
  • Ensures compliance with policies, programs, and procedures; provides guidance to employees and management.
  • Performs employee relations activities and investigations as needed.

Responsibilities

SUMMARY

Under general supervision, performs and coordinates a variety of professional and technical Human Resources functions, including leave of absence administration, recruiting, and various other human resources functions. Analyzes Human Resources data and assures effective administration of Company policies and procedures. Demonstrate knowledge and experience in the areas of payroll administration, with special regard to accuracy and timeliness

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties and responsibilities include the following; other duties may be required and assigned at any time.

  • Compiles and calculates various (wkly and monthly) statistical reports, statements, and summaries related to pay, headcount, turnover, benefits accounts, and submits them to appropriate departments
  • Provides guidance and acts as a resource for employees and management; within limits of delegated responsibility, ensures their understanding, interpretation and compliance with personnel policies, programs, and procedures
  • Prepares attendance corrective actions as needed and in accordance to company’s attendance policy
  • Ensure compliance and administer LOA process under FMLA, CFRA, PFL, Workers Comp, etc.
  • Assists department in carrying out various human resources programs and procedures for all company employee
  • Handles employee relations issues; may conduct investigations into employee complaints/concerns and performs disciplinary actions as needed.
  • Provides assistance and coaching to supervisors on employee development and disciplinary procedures.
  • Manages ongoing recruitment of qualified production personnel and implements effective recruitment strategies; partner with supervisors/managers to assess recruiting needs and identify key issues; maintains job descriptions and job postings.
  • Manages all aspects of bi-weekly payroll for 200+ employees; Records, maintains, checks and balances timecards.
  • Recommends and implements improvements to streamline payroll processes
  • Collaborates within HR team to obtain and/or provide information to verify or support accuracy of employee records
  • Receive, process, and/or maintain various confidential records, files requiring classification records, files requiring classification and compilation of varied information (i.e.: department files, confidential files, reports, including sick and vacation records, W-4s 401k etc)
  • Process all biweekly, month end, and year end reporting and reconciliations as required
  • Assist with Company/Employee sponsored events
Qualifications

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

​Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Human Resources, Business, or Organization Development or equivalent.

Minimum 3+ years of progressive leadership experience in Human Resources positions.

Specialized training in employment law, compensation, organizational planning, organization development, employee relations, safety, training, and preventive labor relations, preferred.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

3 years Generalist experience in a manufacturing environment

PHR Certification.

COMPUTER SKILLS

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Experience with ADP, Oracle, GPS, Workbrain, and Taleo preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
