HR Generalist

Description
We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and people-focused HR Generalist to join our People Team. This position will provide hands-on support across a variety of HR functions, including payroll and timekeeping, benefits administration, employee records, onboarding and offboarding, employee communications, and general HR administration.
The ideal candidate is someone who is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, can manage multiple priorities, maintains strict confidentiality, and has exceptional attention to detail. This role will interact regularly with employees and managers and will serve as an important resource for day-to-day HR questions and support.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll & Timekeeping
- Review employee timecards and timesheets for accuracy and completeness.
- Assist with bi-weekly payroll processing, including reviewing regular hours, overtime, PTO, sick time, holidays, and other payroll-related adjustments.
- Follow up with employees and managers regarding missing or incorrect time entries.
- Verify timekeeping information prior to payroll submission.
- Assist with resolving payroll and timekeeping discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate payroll and timekeeping records.
- Partner with Payroll and the People Team to ensure timely and accurate payroll processing.
- Assist with payroll-related reporting, audits, and special projects.
Benefits Administration
- Assist with the administration of employee health, dental, vision, and other benefit programs.
- Respond to employee questions regarding health insurance benefits, eligibility, enrollment, and coverage.
- Contact employees as needed regarding benefits-related matters, including enrollment deadlines, required documentation, and changes to coverage.
- Assist with new hire benefit enrollment and qualifying life event changes.
- Support annual Open Enrollment activities and employee communications.
- Assist with the administration of the company's 401(k) retirement plan, including employee questions, enrollment, eligibility, and required communications.
- Coordinate with benefits and retirement plan providers as needed.
HR Administration
- Maintain employee records and HRIS information, ensuring data is accurate and up to date.
- Maintain the company's Out of Office (OOO) calendar and ensure employee time-off information is accurately reflected.
- Monitor and maintain vacation, sick time, and other leave records as applicable.
- Assist with onboarding and offboarding employees, including HR paperwork, system updates, and employee communications.
- Prepare and maintain personnel files and other confidential HR documentation.
- Respond to routine employee questions regarding HR policies, procedures, benefits, payroll, timekeeping, and company programs.
- Assist with employment verification requests and other HR administrative tasks.
- Prepare HR reports and maintain HR documentation.
Employee Relations & HR Support
- Serve as a resource for employees and managers on day-to-day HR matters.
- Assist with employee relations matters and elevate sensitive or complex issues to HR leadership as appropriate.
- Help administer company policies and procedures consistently.
- Support employee engagement initiatives and other People Team projects.
- Maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive employee and company information.
- Assist with compliance-related activities and required employment documentation.
- Support additional HR projects and initiatives as assigned.
Qualifications
- 2–4 years of experience in an HR Generalist, HR Coordinator, or similar HR role.
- Hands-on experience with payroll and timekeeping processes.
- Experience reviewing employee timecards, PTO, overtime, and payroll adjustments.
- Experience with benefits administration, including medical, dental, and vision benefits.
- Familiarity with 401(k) administration and employee retirement benefits.
- Experience working with an HRIS and/or payroll system; Paylocity experience is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet time-sensitive deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive employee information with discretion.
- Strong customer-service mindset and ability to work effectively with employees at all levels.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- PHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification is a plus.
- Experience working in a multi-state environment is a plus.
- Experience supporting payroll for an organization of 100+ employees is a plus.
- Experience with Paylocity or similar HR/payroll platforms is highly preferred.
