Job summary

Brightway is seeking an HR Generalist to support managers and employees across functions. This role focuses on employee relations, performance management, onboarding, and people programs within a fast-growing, people-centric culture.

You will help administer performance cycles, ensure compliance with employment laws, and partner with Talent Acquisition on hiring and retention efforts, contributing to Brightway's mission and client service excellence.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field required.
  • 1–2 years’ HR generalist experience preferred.
  • Experience with employee relations, performance management, onboarding and HR programs preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as resource to employees and managers on HR policies and workplace practices.
  • Assist with employee relations, including performance improvement plans and disciplinary actions.
  • Support managers on performance management processes and documentation.
  • Administer performance cycles: goal setting, mid-year reviews, year-end reviews.
  • Ensure HR practices comply with applicable laws; escalate compliance concerns.
  • Partner with Talent Acquisition on job postings, onboarding, and recruiting support.
  • Support workforce planning, retention, engagement initiatives; coordinate activities.
  • Collect & compile employee data and HR metrics to identify trends.
  • Support organizational changes and culture initiatives with communications.
  • Develop and implement HR programs focused on engagement and experience.
  • Collaborate with HR to deliver integrated HR solutions across the business.
  • Deliver clear, timely HR communications across the organization.

Scope

Provides HR support to managers and employees across assigned functions, assisting with day-to-day HR tasks and contributing to people programs with guidance from HR leadership. This role supports employee relations, performance management, talent development, engagement, and other HR initiatives with guidance from senior HR staff for complex matters. Champions Brightway's culture and contributes to delivering a positive and consistent employee experience.

Job Responsibilities
  • Serve as a resource to employees and managers by providing guidance on HR policies, workplace practices, performance, employee concerns, and other day-to-day HR matters.
  • Assist with employee relations matters, including performance improvement plans and disciplinary actions, supporting consistency, fairness, and compliance with applicable employment laws and company policies.
  • Support managers on effective performance management processes, documentation, and addressing workplace concerns.
  • Assist in administering performance management cycles, including goal setting, mid-year reviews, and year-end reviews, providing logistical support and resources to managers.
  • Assist with ensuring HR practices comply with applicable state and federal employment laws and regulations. Escalate potential compliance concerns as identified.
  • Partner with Talent Acquisition on job postings, onboarding, and other talent-related activities for assigned business units, providing additional recruiting support as needed.
  • Support workforce planning, talent development, retention, and engagement initiatives by gathering information, coordinating activities, and contributing observations and input to HR leadership and business managers.
  • Collect & compile employee and people data, including engagement survey results and HR metrics, to assist in identifying trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Support organizational changes, leadership transitions, and culture initiatives by coordinating communications, resources, and other HR activities.
  • Assist in developing and implementing HR programs focused on employee engagement, retention, manager capability, career development, and employee experience.
  • Collaborate with the broader HR team to deliver consistent and integrated HR solutions to the business.
  • Support development and delivery of clear, timely HR communications across the organization, including policy updates, program announcements, leadership messages, and employee-facing materials, ensuring consistency in tone and alignment with Brightway's culture.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee records and HR documentation while exercising sound judgment and discretion.
  • Support HR projects and initiatives as assigned and contribute to continuous improvement of HR processes and practices.
Education and Experience

This position requires a bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field and 1–2 years of HR experience. Experience in an HR Generalist, HR Associate, HR Coordinator, or similar role with experience in employee relations, performance management, recruiting, onboarding, and HR programs is preferred.

  • Sound judgment and discretion in handling sensitive and confidential matters
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, balancing day-to-day tasks with ongoing project support.
  • Comfortable working with HR data; able to compile and summarize people metrics with attention to detail.
