Job summary

Central States Manufacturing, Inc. seeks an experienced Director of HR to design and manage our total rewards strategy, including compensation, benefits, equity, and recognition programs. You will ensure competitive, compliant, and engaging programs aligned with company goals.

The role partners with HR leadership to integrate rewards into broader talent initiatives, analyzes market data to inform pay structures, and leads communications and training to managers across the organization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, HR, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years HR management experience with strategic scope.
  • SHRM certification preferred; master’s degree a plus.

Responsibilities

The Director of HR designs, implements, and manages the company’s comprehensive total rewards strategy, encompassing compensation, benefits, equity, and recognition programs. This role ensures competitive, compliant, and engaging programs that align with organizational goals, attract and retain talent, and reinforce company values.

Core Functions:

  • Develop and execute a total rewards strategy that aligns with organizational goals, culture, and talent objectives.
  • Lead the design, administration, and evaluation of compensation, benefits, and equity programs to ensure competitiveness, compliance, and internal equity.
  • Partner with HR and business leaders to integrate total rewards programs into broader talent and business strategies.
  • Analyze market data, compensation trends, and internal metrics to inform pay structures, incentive design, and program enhancements.
  • Oversee benefits administration and vendor partnerships, negotiating contracts and ensuring service excellence and cost-effectiveness.
  • Design and promote recognition and engagement programs that reinforce company values and drive retention.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws governing compensation, benefits, and equity programs.
  • Communicate total rewards programs clearly and effectively to employees and managers through training, resources, and communication materials.
  • Continuously evaluate program effectiveness, recommending and implementing improvements that enhance competitiveness and employee satisfaction.

Education & Experience:

Minimum Required:

  • A bachelor’s degree in business administration, Human Resources, or other human resources-related fields.
  • Minimum of 5 years of human resources management experience where candidate has been responsible for functional and strategic aspects of Human Resources.

Preferred:

  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP
  • Master’s Degree

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

Work is performed in an office environment. This role will routinely utilize standard office equipment to perform the core functions listed in this job description. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies as well as communicate verbally and electronically. The work is primarily sedentary and requires extensive reading to perform the core functions listed in this job description.
