Are you ready to make an impact across the full HR spectrum? Blue Plate Catering is seeking a versatile and detail-driven HR Coordinator to join our Human Resources Department.

In this role, you’ll wear multiple hats — owning recruiting from start to finish, managing payroll and HRIS operations, leading new hire onboarding and orientation, and driving employee engagement initiatives that bring our values to life. You’ll work closely with every department in the organization and play a critical part in shaping the employee experience.

Position Summary

Blue Plate Catering is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Human Resources Coordinator to join our Human Resources team. This role plays a critical part in attracting and onboarding talent, executing accurate payroll, managing HR systems, and driving employee engagement initiatives — all while embodying our core value: We Care More.

Essential Functions:

Recruitment & Onboarding:

  • Manage end-to-end recruitment processes, including job postings, candidate screening, interview coordination, and offer letter preparation.
  • Coordinate and conduct new hire orientations, ensuring a seamless onboarding experience.
  • Regularly reviews orientation program to ensure effectiveness, making enhancements and improvements as needed.
  • Prepare onboarding materials and ensure timely completion of pre-employment requirements.
  • Represent the employer at recruitment seminars, college career days, job fairs, etc. This representation must occur at least semi-annually.
  • Maintain recruitment metrics and provide regular reports on hiring activities.

Payroll Administration:

  • Process bi-weekly payroll, ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Reconcile and audit timekeeping and payroll discrepancies.
  • Support compliance with wage and hour laws, including overtime eligibility and FLSA classification
  • Manage employee garnishments maintaining privacy.
  • Maintain confidentiality and integrity of payroll data.

Employee Engagement:

  • Develop and implement employee engagement programs and initiatives.
  • Organize company events, recognition programs, and wellness activities.
  • Gather feedback through surveys and focus groups to enhance employee satisfaction.

HRIS Management:

  • Maintain HR records ensuring compliance with all federal and state requirements. Conduct regular file audits.
  • Generate reports and analytics to support HR decision-making.
  • Ensure data integrity and assist in system upgrades or implementations.

General HR Support:

  • Answer and follow up on daily employee/manager questions.
  • Support compliance with labor laws and company policies.
  • Handle employee inquiries and provide guidance on HR-related matters.
  • Respond to all unemployment claims under the direction of HR Director
  • Assist in providing guidance and information to managers and employees in all areas related to company policies, procedures and HR legal compliance. Ensure workplace issues are handled effectively and expediently to remove barriers to successful job performance and foster a positive work environment.
  • Assist with benefits enrollment support and compliance tracking (I-9, E-Verify, EEO logs, etc.).
  • Track and maintain OSHA-required injury and illness logs (Forms 300, 300A, and 301), ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
  • Administer the company’s worker’s compensation program according to policy, to include: case management, aggressive claims management, claims resolution, file maintenance and overseeing the reporting of injuries and accidents.
  • Provide administrative support for audits, training, and HR reporting.
  • Other HR related tasks as assigned by management
Requirements

Education and Experience: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field preferred.
  • 2-4 years of experience in HR operations, recruiting, and payroll administration (Hospitality experience preferred).

Compensation and Benefits:

Salary Range: $50,000 – $55,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications.
