Job summary

NorthMark Strategies seeks an HPC Storage Engineer to design, deploy, and manage multi-PB storage systems that support a demanding HPC compute environment and data-intensive research workloads.

You will collaborate with Researchers, Software Engineers, Networks teams and external vendors (Dell, Vast Data, HPE, Rubrik) to optimize workflows, automate storage operations, and ensure scalable, reliable storage across global programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
• Experience deploying and managing high-performance and/or clustered filesystems at scale.
• Strong working knowledge of data center storage technologies (file, block, object).
• Team player who collaborates to deliver storage environments.

Responsibilities

The Position

The HPC Storage Engineering team manages our high performance scalable storage in excess of 200 petabytes. We are responsible for the design, deployment, and operation of this storage platform, which supports the research workloads of our Researchers, and is therefore a core component of infrastructure. Working alongside our global team, you will optimize and troubleshoot workflows alongside our Researchers and Software Engineers, Our involvement extends to optimization and troubleshooting of workflows, working with Researchers and Software Engineers daily, as well as our Networks team and external vendors, including DELL, VAST, HPE and, RUBRIK.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and manage multi-PB storage systems to support the compute environment
• Implement automated processes and procedures consistent with a strategy of Infrastructure-as-code for a consistent, repeatable storage product
• Leverage experience and expertise across all things storage related to act as an expert for a wide array of projects
• Work with customers to streamline workflows for optimal storage usage

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
• Experience deploying and managing high-performance and/or clustered filesystems at scale
• Strong working knowledge of the different types of data center storage technologies (file, block, object) and how they differ
• Team player that enjoys collaborating with others to deliver supportable storage environments
• Experience with scale-out storage architectures such as Vast Data and Isilon/PowerScale
• Recent experience working through JIRA tickets
• Great problem solving skills, be self-driven, and hard working
• A passion for technology and hardware
• Python and/or DevOps experience
