Job summary

Umicore is seeking an Operator in High Purity Chemicals & Refining at the Quapaw site to run recycling processes, refine materials, and ensure compliance with specifications. The role involves supporting laboratory setup, conducting tests, and maintaining accurate records in a fast-paced environment.

The ideal candidate has a GED or high school diploma, basic computer skills, and the ability to lift moderate weights, with a willingness to work in safety‑critical operations and follow procedures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED, or 1–3 months experience or training
• Proficient with computers and able to read work instructions
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally
• Able to use a respirator as part of the HAZWOPER team

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate recycling processes and refining furnaces
• Ensure product quality per customer specifications
• Pull sampling of waste streams to meet governmental requirements
• Support setting up laboratory equipment and instrumentation for tests and process control
• Support conducting chemical laboratory tests of various chemical solutions and samples
• Maintain accurate records and documentation per controls
• Escalate issues and deviations, and assist with corrective actions

To add to our valuable team of dedicated employees, the Quapaw site is currently seeking an Operator in High Purity Chemicals & Refining operation.

What you will be doing

• Set up and operate recycling processes and production of Germanium Tetrachloride and refining furnaces
• Ensure quality of product as defined by customer specifications
• Pull sampling of waste streams to ensure operations meet governmental requirements
• Supporting role setting up laboratory equipment and instrumentation required for tests, research or process control
• Support conducting chemical laboratory tests of various chemical solutions and samples

Who we are looking for

• You have a high school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
• You are proficient with computers
• You are able to read and interpret documents such as work instructions and procedure manuals
• You are able to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
• You are able to use a respirator to be a member of the HAZWOPER team

• Executes assigned tasks in General Production following standard operating procedures and safety/quality requirements.
• Maintains accuracy and completeness of records, documentation, and transactions in line with controls.
• Recognizes issues or inconsistencies and supports the continuous improvement of work procedures and instructions.
• Supports colleagues and responds to stakeholder requests in a timely, professional manner.
• Maintains accurate documentation and records in line with policies and procedures.
• Escalates issues, risks, and deviations promptly to supervisor and follows through on corrective actions.
