Job Summary
Northrop Grumman is seeking an HPC/Linux Systems Administrator to support the information system lifecycle for a classified program. The role is onsite, full‑time at Palmdale, CA, with no virtual or telecommute options.

Responsibilities
- Perform as Linux Systems Administrator for a medium to large sized classified program.
- Communicate effectively at all levels of the organization, with internal and external customers, in written and oral format.
- Maintain smooth operation of multi‑user computer systems, coordinating with network, software, and system engineers, PC desktop technicians, project managers, end users, and IT management.
- Support multiple networks and ensure necessary administration tasks are completed.
- Work closely with System Engineering and other team members to develop recommended system improvements, upgrades, and solutions.
- Recommend and implement system enhancements to improve performance and reliability, including installing, upgrading/patching, monitoring, problem resolution, and configuration management.
- Administer backup and recovery services; manage file systems and disk space; manage virus protection on a routine basis.
- Create and maintain user and computer accounts and modify file permissions and security access lists.
- Test new releases of products to ensure compatibility and minimize user impact.
- Develop and document technical processes and procedures as needed.
- Make recommendations to purchase hardware, software, and system components.
- Interact, meet, discuss, and troubleshoot issues with team members, suppliers, customers, and vendors.
- Adhere to strict Information Systems security guidelines in all cases.
- Maintain security audit and logging information on all networked and standalone computers in a classified environment as directed by the Information Systems Security Manager.
- Prepare security documentation for input to Computer Security.
- Report on project status as required for all recurring and non‑recurring efforts.
- Work under minimal direction and independently determine and develop approach to solutions.
- Lift equipment weighing up to 40 pounds.
- Work after hours and weekends as needed.
Basic Qualifications – Level 3
- Associate’s degree and 7 years of relevant experience, or Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of relevant experience, or Master’s degree and 3 years of relevant experience.
- High School diploma or equivalent and 9 years of related experience may be considered.
- Current US Government Secret clearance required.
- Ability to obtain access to Special Programs; maintaining Special Programs access will be a condition of employment.
- Current Security + CE (or greater) certification, or ability to obtain certification within 6 months of hire.
- Linux Operating Systems support experience; Linux Workstation and Server management required.
Basic Qualifications – Level 4
- Associate’s degree and 10 years of relevant experience, or Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of relevant experience, or Master’s degree and 6 years of relevant experience.
- High School diploma or equivalent and 12 years of related experience may be considered.
- Current US Government Secret clearance required.
- Ability to obtain access to Special Programs; maintaining Special Programs access will be a condition of employment.
- Current Security + CE (or greater) certification, or ability to obtain certification within 6 months of hire.
- Linux Operating Systems support experience; Linux Workstation and Server management required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Active Top Secret, SCI, SAP/SAR access, or Polygraph.
- Security+ CE certification.
- Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining computer hardware in a networked environment.
- Experience with architecture and design of new and existing HPC systems, including reliability and scaling.
- Strong knowledge of HPC technologies, storage, parallel processing, and scientific computing frameworks.
- Experience building and maintaining high‑scale distributed systems and running scalable distributed application software.
- Hands‑on experience with HPC hardware diagnostic and repair.
Clearances & Security
- Current US Government Secret clearance required.
- Special Programs access required; maintaining access is a condition of employment.
- Security + CE (or greater) certification required or obtain within 6 months of hire.

Benefits & Compensation
Flexible work arrangements, 9/80 work schedule, 401(k) matching, health care. Salary range for Primary Level: $103,600–$155,400. Secondary Level: $129,300–$193,900. Overtime, shift differential, and discretionary bonus may apply.
