Job summary

Booz Allen Hamilton is seeking an HPC Linux Specialist to maintain and enhance on-prem HPC infrastructure while integrating cloud capabilities. You will monitor performance, design cloud integrations, and collaborate with customers and cross-functional teams.

You will work with on-prem systems and modern cloud tooling, ensuring secure, high-performance operations for mission-critical workloads. This role supports growth in a fast-paced environment and requires working with multiple stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of scripting in Bash/Perl/Python.
  • 5+ years Linux administration: provisioning, updates, user management, filesystems, kernel modules.
  • Experience configuring/deploying HPC batch systems (SGE/LSF/Slurm).
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices for HPC.
  • Knowledge of system performance monitoring and optimization.
  • Ability to obtain/maintain a Public Trust or Suitability/Fitness.
  • Bachelor’s degree in CS or Engineering.

Overview

We’re looking for an HPC Linux Specialist to maintain and enhance our on‑prem HPC infrastructure while integrating cloud capabilities. The role involves monitoring performance, designing cloud integrations, and collaborating with customers and cross‑functional teams.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain the current on‑prem architecture and identify opportunities for improvement using the latest technology.
  • Provide customers with insight into their networks through monitoring and performance management.
  • Help architect and design cloud integration for mission‑critical work.
Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience with systems automation scripting in Bash, Perl, or Python.
  • 5+ years of experience with Linux systems administration, including automated OS provisioning, software updates and package management, user accounts management, filesystems and access management, compiling software and kernel modules, versioning, or environment modules.
  • Experience configuring, deploying, and managing batch queueing systems for HPC clusters such as SGE, LSF, or Slurm.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and best practices for securing HPC environments.
  • Knowledge of system performance monitoring and actions that can be taken to improve or correct performance.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability/Fitness determination based on client requirements.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience coordinating with change control and environment management, network, and security teams.
  • Experience in automation of server deployment, common tasks, and installation procedures.
  • Experience developing systems monitoring dashboards and using monitoring tools.
  • Experience with containers such as Singularity or Docker.
  • Experience with a major cloud provider such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude while working in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment.

Applicants selected will be subject to a government investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements of the U.S. government client.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary ranges from $61,900.00 to $141,000.00 (annualized USD). This posting will close within 90 days from the Posting Date. Benefits include health, life, disability, financial, and retirement benefits, paid leave, professional development, tuition assistance, work‑life programs, and dependent care. Full‑time and part‑time employees working at least 20 hours a week on a regular basis are eligible to participate in Booz Allen’s benefit programs.
