Job summary
Primary Services in Houston is seeking a Fiber Optic Splicing Technician to support a growing commercial fiber network. This field role involves splicing, testing, troubleshooting, and restoration across indoor and outdoor environments with travel throughout the Greater Houston area.
The ideal candidate has at least 1 year of commercial fiber-optic experience, hands-on fiber installation and testing knowledge, and the ability to read maps and splicing documentation.
Qualifications
- At least 1 year of commercial fiber-optic experience required.
- Experience with fiber-optic splicing, testing, troubleshooting, installation, or network restoration.
- Knowledge of OTDR testing and fiber terminations is required.
Responsibilities
- Perform fiber-optic splicing, terminations, testing, troubleshooting, and restoration in indoor and outdoor environments.
- Fusion splice loose-tube and ribbon fiber‑optic cable, including mid-sheath splicing.
- Perform OTDR testing and interpret OTDR traces.
- Read and interpret network maps, fiber routes, and splicing documentation.
- Coordinate site access and work activities with customers, contractors, and internal personnel.
- Ensure completed work meets network quality, performance, and safety standards.
