Job summary

Aquatech International LLC in Houston, TX is seeking a seasoned Estimator to lead costings for EPC projects. The role involves preparing material and labor estimates, obtaining vendor quotes, and maintaining bid databases for civil, MEP, and site works.

You will work with project engineers, develop detailed cost analyses, and present estimates to management. Proficiency in RS Means, Sage, Aspen and SAP is required, with strong Excel skills and attention to detail.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferable for the role.
  • Ten+ years of estimator experience in heavy industrial projects.
  • Experience estimating civil works, mechanical installation, building works, MEP, and E&I.

Responsibilities

  • Generate and maintain proposal-specific costing data.
  • Obtain vendor/contractor quotes and work with Application Engineers during proposals.
  • Cross-check quotations against project specs and request revisions as needed.
  • Maintain proposal and bid logs for EPC-related items (civil, mechanical, piping, building, E&I).
  • Develop and maintain relationships with vendors and contractors; manage bids.
  • Prepare estimates using RS Means, Sage (Timberline), and Aspen; present findings to PM/Management.

Aquatech has an immediate need for a full-time Estimator to work in our Houston, TX location. The hours are Monday – Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. The Estimation Engineer will perform the duties described in the job description below and will be considered an Exempt employee.

The ideal candidate will be an expert in costing and estimation. The candidate will be technically strong, have experience in construction, and be good with Microsoft Excel.

Job Description
  • Generate and maintain proposal-specific costing data
  • Obtaining vendor/contractor quotes and working in conjunction with the Application Engineers during the proposal development stage
  • Cross-check quotations during the proposal development stage against project specifications and confirm compliance or request revisions from the vendor.
  • Maintain proposal database
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining existing quote log files with pre-bid quote, project quote, and project PO data for EPC-related items like:
  • o Civil works
  • o Concrete
  • o Mechanical Equipment Installation
  • o Piping Installation
  • o Site Fabricated Tanks
  • o Pipe Racks and Pipe Supports
  • o Building
  • o MEP Building works
  • o E & I Installation
  • o BOP Installation
  • Developing EPC RFQs, verifying supplier quotations against customer specifications to ensure compliance.
  • Preparing material estimates and labor manhour estimates for the installation activities
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with company vendors and contractors
  • Managing bids from vendors and contractors
  • Using bid data to prepare a detailed cost analysis
  • Prepare estimates using estimating software like RS Means & Sage (Formerly Timberline)
  • Proficient in Aspen Estimating software
  • Presenting prepared estimates to the Project Manager & Management.
  • Compiling and recording actual costs

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Proficient with SAP
  • Hands-on experience using estimating software like RS Means & Sage (Formerly Timberline)
  • Highly proficient in using the estimating software ASPEN

Physical Job Demands

Lifting/carrying/moving and exerting up to 50 lbs.of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. May need to climb ladders, cannot be afraid of heights, and will need to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while on site. It involves sitting at a desk for extended periods. Needs a high degree of concentration in a busy area

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree preferable
  • Minimum Ten (10) or more years of experience working as an Estimator
  • Experience in estimation of Civil works, Mechanical Installation works (Heavy Industrial), Building works,
  • MEP, and E & I Installation works.
  • In-depth knowledge of labor costs per trade and by region/ location.
  • Hands-on experience with RS Means & Sage (Formerly Timberline) estimating software.
  • Proficiency in ASPEN Estimating software
