Job summary

Ada County Connect seeks a Housing Support Specialist in Boise to help individuals and families access housing and services. You will blend trauma-informed engagement with system navigation and documentation support to ensure timely housing access.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of local housing resources, and trauma-informed care.
  • Experience with data systems, client documentation, or case management support.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, and emotional regulation skills.
  • High attention to detail, organization, and cultural humility.
  • Strong problem solving and conflict resolution skills with a solution-oriented approach.
  • Fluency with Google Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, database management, and other organizational competencies.

Responsibilities

  • Client Navigation & Support: Complete housing assessments with households in person or through the Housing Crisis Hotline.
  • Client Navigation & Support: Respond promptly to client questions and maintain clear, respectful communication in person or through the Housing Crisis Hotline.
  • Client Navigation & Support: Support clients in gathering documentation for housing program referrals (ID, income, homelessness verification, budgets, inspections, etc.).
  • Client Navigation & Support: Assist with housing applications, reasonable accommodations, and referral follow-up when appropriate
  • Manage the front desk and walk-in traffic.

Job description

Position Summary

Reports To: In-Reach Program Manager


Classification: Full-Time, Non-Exempt Team: Coordinated Entry


The Housing Support Specialist helps individuals and families experiencing homelessness navigate the coordinated entry system and access housing and supportive services. This role combines trauma-informed engagement, system navigation, and documentation support to ensure timely housing access.


The ideal candidate builds rapport with care, supports participants with persistence and empathy, and collaborates across agencies to overcome barriers to housing. Success in this role requires adaptability, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to ending homelessness.


Key Responsibilities - percentages fluctuate based on demand and team need

Client Navigation & Support (65%)

Complete housing assessments with households in person or through the Housing Crisis Hotline.


Respond promptly to client questions and maintain clear, respectful communication in person or through the Housing Crisis Hotline.


Support clients in gathering documentation for housing program referrals (ID, income, homelessness verification, budgets, inspections, etc.)


Assist with housing applications, reasonable accommodations, and referral follow-up when appropriate


Manage the front desk and walk-in traffic.


System Coordination & Advocacy (15%)

Coordinate with case managers, shelters, and housing providers to support successful referrals


Advocate for participant needs while upholding system standards


Participate in weekly case conferencing and partner huddles as assigned


Attend regular team meetings, reflective supervision, and ACC trainings


Documentation & Compliance (20%)

Maintain accurate, timely documentation in HMIS and internal systems


Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA standards

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working with individuals or families experiencing homelessness or other vulnerable populations

Fluency with Google Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, database management, and other organizational competencies


Must have a valid drivers license and be able to drive themselves to conduct housing inspections


Strongly Preferred: Fluent in English and Spanish


Lived experience in homelessness can be considered in lieu of other professional experience.


What We Are Offering

Full-time position based in Boise with some community travel required


32-hr work week paid at 40 hours per week
