Qualifications

  • Must be able to obtain QMHA certification within two months of hire; QMHA or QMHA-R preferred.
  • Must have Oregon driver license, reliable vehicle, and insurable to travel.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct housing support to mental health clients seeking housing and maintains accountability for ISSP goals.
  • Coordinates daily housing services and attends treatment team meetings as a mental health team member.
  • Establishes relationships with landlords and property management; develops housing opportunities.
  • Monitors housing-related expenses, completes documentation, and performs data tracking.
  • Performs outreach and client welfare checks as appropriate.

Description

The Housing Coordinator position is an integral member of the Community Support Services Mental Health team. This role assists individuals with severe and persistent mental illness in obtaining and maintaining housing, ensuring compliance with Supported Housing Program requirements, coordinating with community partners and landlords, maintaining fiscal and program records, and supporting client treatment goals.

The position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, community resource navigation, and the ability to coordinate and direct daily activities within the housing support program.

Required Education and Experience:
  • Associates Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Social Services, Psychology, Human Services, Counseling, or a behavioral health-related discipline; OR
  • Three (3) years of experience in the behavioral health field
Required Licenses and Certifications:
  • Must be able to obtain QMHA certification within two (2) months of hire. Preference given to applicants already certified as QMHA or QMHA-R
  • Must maintain a valid Oregon Driver License or ability to obtain one upon hire and be insurable under the organization's auto liability coverage policy (minimum 21 years of age and with no Type A violations in the past 3 years, or three (3) or more Type B violations) and must have a reliable vehicle with adequate insurance to travel as needed.
Preferred Experience
  • Current QMHA or QMHA-R certification.
  • Familiarity with mental health and substance use populations.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish a plus
Client Housing Support
  • Provides direct support to mental health clients with severe and persistent mental illness seeking housing.
  • Assists clients engaged in BestCare mental health services who have been referred by their clinician.
  • Supports clients in securing and maintaining stable housing.
  • Assists clients in achieving goals identified in their Individual Services and Support Plans (ISSPs)
Program Coordination
  • Remains current on all Supported Housing Program contract requirements.
  • Provides education and guidance to staff regarding Supported Housing Program requirements.
  • Delegates and coordinates daily duties related to housing services.
  • Attends treatment team meetings and actively participates as a member of the mental health team
Housing Compliance & Community Relations
  • Establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with landlords and property management companies.
  • Develops new housing opportunities and community housing resources.
  • Ensures prospective rental units meet state housing codes and standards.
  • Conducts home inspections as required by program guidelines
Client Monitoring & Skill Development
  • Conducts or participates in client home visits and welfare checks when appropriate.
  • Assists with facilitation and coordination of skill-building classes, including Ready to Rent, budgeting, and related educational programs.
Documentation, Reporting & Fiscal Responsibilities
  • Completes participant intake screenings and related program documentation.
  • Maintains administrative records and housing program paperwork.
  • Tracks client rents and housing-related expenditures.
  • Processes check requests.
  • Conducts background checks as appropriate.
  • Performs required data tracking and reporting duties.
General
