EVS Supervisor: Lead the Team that Keeps Healthcare Moving!

Clean, safe, and welcoming environments are essential to exceptional patient care, and our Environmental Services team plays a critical role in making that happen every day.

We are looking for an EVS Supervisor who takes pride in high standards, leads by example, and understands that the details matter. In this role, you will supervise and support the EVS team, coordinate daily operations, ensure cleaning and sanitation standards are consistently met, and help create an environment where patients, residents, employees, and visitors feel safe and welcome.

Compensation: Starting at $25.32 depending on experience

JOB SUMMARY

Under general direction of the Director of Support Services and other hospital leadership, the Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for enforcing and maintaining the standards of cleanliness required in a hospital setting. The Housekeeping Supervisor accomplishes this by mentoring and training the staff and inspecting the resulting work product from the EVS team. The Housekeeping Supervisor will also help the Director of Support Services create work schedules, analyze expenses, record and track overtime, and report on the cleanliness of the facility and any deficiencies found. Demonstrates the ability to utilize the appropriate chemicals and supplies according to procedure.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Trains and mentors junior EVS staff to meet cleanliness standard and increase work performance
  • Creates monthly work schedule for EVS employees
  • Tracks overtime and callouts for EVS staff
  • Inspects work product of staff across facility
  • Tracks expenses and vendor performance for EVS function
  • Reports and notes of any deficiencies discovered during EVS duties
  • Reports on all patients, residents, and building safety concerns immediately to senior management
  • Performs routine cleaning of patient rooms, nursing units, offices, clinical areas, waiting areas, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, and corridors in a clean, neat and sanitary manner.
  • Performs terminal/detailed cleaning by following a check list or as instructed by the Infection Prevention Nurse.
  • Completes Work Assignments in a timely manner.
  • Utilizes the appropriate chemicals and supplies according to procedure.
  • Use and maintain equipment properly.
  • Observe safety precautions and reports on safety hazards, as appropriate.
  • Transports trash and hazardous waste to appropriate disposal areas.
  • Orders and maintains supplies, as needed.
  • Follows all infection control practices including hand washing techniques, Standard Precautions and Isolation Precautions.
  • Maintains age specific safety precautions.
  • Cleans and maintains floors by using heavy equipment to clean, strip, and polish floors on a scheduled/routine basis.
  • Performs other duties, as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position has supervisory responsibilities for EVS and Laundry

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School Diploma.
  • 3 – 5 years of relevant work experience.
  • Has the ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, as necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
  • Working irregular hours including weekends, holidays, and other circumstances that would require EVS to be present.
  • Physically demanding, high-stress environment.
  • Exposure to blood and body fluids, communicable diseases, chemicals, radiation, and repetitive motions.
  • Pushing and pulling heavy objects.
  • Full range of body motion including during handling and lifting.
  • Positions require light to moderate work with 50 pounds maximum weight to lift and carry.
  • Position requires reaching, bending, stooping, and handling objects with hands and/or fingers, talking and/or hearing, and seeing.
