Job summary

Homewood Suites Washington DC Capitol Navy Yard is seeking a Rooms Inspector to ensure all guest rooms meet our standards for resale, train associates on cleaning procedures, and oversee the housekeeping team. The role supports maintaining high cleanliness levels and guest satisfaction across the property.

The position requires supervising staff, inspecting rooms, and ensuring compliance with health and sanitation standards. Prior housekeeping supervisory experience is preferred for this role.

Qualifications

  • High school education or equivalent required.
  • 1–2 years of related experience required.
  • Knowledge of housekeeping operations and hotel standards helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coach Room Attendants and Linen Runners.
  • Inspect guest rooms and back-of-house areas for cleanliness and compliance with SOPs.
  • Assign tasks and monitor special requests for smooth housekeeping flow.
  • Respond to guest requests and inquiries to ensure satisfaction and maintain control logs.
  • Perform other duties as directed by management.

Job Overview

The Rooms Inspector ensures all guest rooms are cleaned and inspected to standard for resale to incoming guests. Responsible for training associates on cleaning standards, and adherence to the department’s operations. Inspects rooms and assigned areas for cleanliness and maintenance.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise, and coach Room Attendants and Linen Runners.
  • Supervise and inspect the cleaning of the guest rooms and back of the house; ensure compliance with accident/loss prevention programs, SOPs and health/sanitation standards and regulations to achieve a high level of cleanliness and guest satisfaction.
  • Issue assignments to staff reviewing special requests and areas of concentration to ensure a smooth flow of the housekeeping operation.
  • Respond to guest requests, concerns and problems to ensure guest satisfaction. Log items into the Lost and Found and answer inquiries to maintain controls and ensure guest satisfaction.
  • All other duties as assigned, requested or deemed necessary by management.
Qualifications

Education/Formal Training

High school education or equivalent experience.

Experience

Experience required by position is from one to two years of employment in a related position with this company or other organization(s).

Knowledge/Skills

  • Requires working knowledge of Housekeeping and the hotel's services, policies and operations. Working knowledge is generally learned on-the-job.
  • Requires supervisory skills.Ability to interpret reports

  • Lifting up to 50 lbs. of linen, supplies, furniture. Pushing up to 50 lbs., pushing housekeeping cart and vacuum cleaner.
  • Pulling up to 50 lbs., pulling housekeeping cart and vacuum cleaner.
  • Carrying up to 35 lbs. of supplies.
  • Bending -picking up supplies, cleaning guests rooms, turndown service, trash removal. Occasional kneeling required.
  • Mobility -continuous movement throughout hotel. Continuous standing -90% of shift. Climbing stairs, approximately 100 steps 3% of 8 hours. Ladders -approximately 3 feet, 2% of 8 hour shift.
  • No driving required.
