Job summary

Baton Rouge General is seeking a full-time housekeeping team member to help keep patient rooms, offices, and corridors clean and safe. You will support a healing environment by maintaining infection control and sanitation standards throughout the facility.

Qualifications

• Reliable and self-motivated with strong attention to cleanliness and safety.
• Ability to work independently and follow instructions without constant supervision.
• Prior housekeeping or custodial experience preferred.
• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to understand and follow chemical safety directions.
• Physically able to lift, push, and move equipment and materials up to 50 pounds occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize patient rooms, baths, offices, halls, and other areas to established standards.
• Maintain floor cleanliness: sweep, mop, vacuum, and spot clean as needed.
• Remove trash and waste safely; restock dispensers.
• Use cleaning chemicals per guidelines and safety standards; operate mechanical/electrical equipment as trained.
• Report low supplies or equipment issues to supervisor promptly.
• Observe isolation, asepsis, and infection control procedures.
• Dispose of materials per hospital policies.
• Complete tasks efficiently and hand off duties at shift end.
• Maintain organized work area and suggest workflow improvements.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
