Job summary

Zumbrota Health Services is seeking a dedicated housekeeping and light maintenance associate to maintain clean resident rooms, dining areas, and common spaces in our senior living community. You will disinfect rooms, operate floor-cleaning equipment, and support move-ins and discharges while upholding infection control standards.

Qualifications

  • Previous housekeeping, environmental services, custodial, maintenance, or senior-living experience preferred.
  • Ability to operate floor-cleaning equipment or willingness to learn.
  • Ability to safely use cleaning chemicals and equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining a clean environment.
  • Reliable attendance and ability to work independently.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with residents and coworkers.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Clean and disinfect resident rooms, bathrooms, common areas, hallways, offices, and other assigned areas.
  • Vacuum, sweep, mop, dust, wipe surfaces, empty trash, and clean windows as assigned.
  • Clean and sanitize high-touch surfaces and frequently used areas.
  • Assist with cleaning resident rooms during move-ins, room changes, and discharges.
  • Maintain cleanliness of dining areas, activity spaces, lounges, and other resident gathering areas.
  • Replenish housekeeping supplies as needed.
  • Follow established infection prevention, sanitation, and chemical-handling procedures.
  • Operate floor-cleaning equipment such as automatic scrubbers, buffers, burnishers, and carpet extractors.
  • Perform routine floor care, including sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, buffing, and polishing.
  • Identify flooring concerns and report damaged flooring or equipment to the appropriate leader.
  • Maintain cleaning equipment and report equipment needing repair or replacement.
  • Perform basic, non-technical maintenance and upkeep throughout the building.
  • Replace light bulbs and batteries when appropriate.
  • Assist with minor repairs and adjustments such as tightening hardware, replacing simple fixtures, and other basic building upkeep.
  • Report maintenance concerns, safety hazards, leaks, damage, or environmental concerns promptly.
  • Assist the maintenance team with routine projects and seasonal building upkeep.
  • Help maintain a safe, uncluttered, and attractive environment for residents and visitors.
  • Interact respectfully and professionally with residents, families, visitors, and coworkers.
  • Respect resident privacy, dignity, belongings, and personal space.
  • Respond appropriately to resident requests or concerns and communicate issues to the appropriate department.
  • Work collaboratively with Nursing, Dining, Activities, Maintenance, and other departments.
  • Follow all facility policies, safety procedures, infection-control practices, and regulatory requirements.
