POSITION OVERVIEW

Job Summary

The Environmental Services Assistant is responsible for performing daily activities in the Environmental Services Department in accordance with federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations. They work under the direction of the Executive Director and/or Environmental Services Supervisor to maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment.

Roles and Responsibilities

1. Follow work and cleaning schedules closely.
2. Report all accidents/incidents to your supervisor within 24 hours, regardless of severity.
3. Participate in scheduled in-service educational classes and on-the-job training.
4. Attend OSHA and CDC hazard communication, TB management, and bloodborne pathogens training annually.
5. Maintain adequate supplies of environmental cleaning materials.
6. Report burned out lights and other maintenance issues promptly.
7. Assist in lifting heavy equipment and supplies as needed.
8. Clean and sanitize work and supply areas, equipment, and tools daily.
9. Perform specific cleaning tasks such as dusting, mopping, waxing, disinfecting, and carpet cleaning.
10. Remove waste and infectious materials properly.
11. Clean vacant rooms and perform infection control cleaning procedures.
12. Ensure work areas are clean and equipment is stored properly.
13. Assist with cleaning fixtures, windows, mirrors, and floors.
14. Adhere to safety protocols when using cleaning chemicals and equipment.
15. Refrain from assisting residents with activities of daily living or skilled needs.

Qualifications

High School diploma or GED required.

Physical Requirements

Ability to sit, stand, bend, reach, and lift at least 50 lbs. Good communication skills necessary.
