Position Overview

The Environmental Services Assistant is responsible for performing daily activities within the Environmental Services Department, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations. The role involves maintaining a clean, safe, and comfortable environment in the facility under the supervision of the Executive Director and/or Environmental Services Supervisor.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Follow work/cleaning schedules diligently.
• Report all accidents/incidents to your supervisor within 24 hours, regardless of severity.
• Participate in scheduled in-service educational classes and on-the-job training.
• Attend annual OSHA and CDC hazard communication, TB management, and bloodborne pathogens training.
• Maintain adequate supplies in utility/janitorial closets.
• Report malfunctioning lights and other equipment promptly.
• Assist in lifting heavy equipment and supplies as needed.
• Clean work areas, equipment, and supplies, ensuring cleanliness and proper storage.
• Perform daily cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, polishing, disinfecting, and waste disposal.
• Clean windows, mirrors, bathroom fixtures, floors, carpets, walls, and ceilings.
• Follow infection control procedures, including isolation cleaning when required.
• Ensure work areas are clean and equipment is stored properly before breaks and at shift end.

Qualifications

High School diploma or GED required.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to sit, stand, bend, reach, stretch, stoop, walk, and lift at least 50 lbs. Good communication skills are essential.
