The EVS Associate - In Patient performs daily cleaning tasks in patient areas, office, public, and/or other non-patient areas, including daily cleaning, equipment cleaning, and project cleaning in an assigned area. The role includes respectful and compassionate communication with customers, and may involve NICU, PACU, ICU, Inpatient Unit-Based Cleaner, Float Team, Discharge Team, Runner, and duties of EVS Assoc-Public.
Job Description
Essential Responsibilities
- Perform multiple step cleaning procedures, including daily cleaning, discharge cleaning, discharge bed making, O.R. cleaning, between case cleaning, upholstery, wall, and glass care; continue work from previous shift and report incomplete assignments and maintenance issues.
- Perform dry mopping and wet mopping of common areas using appropriate equipment, including floor care machines; execute floor and carpet care techniques such as carpet bonneting and extracting.
- Respond to stat orders such as discharges, spills, floods, and all hospital-wide emergency drills; clean all organic body waste (blood, feces, sputum, and urine); clean patient equipment including IV poles, commodes, monitors, cables, specialty equipment, stretchers, wheelchairs, and cardiac chairs; assist in moves, special set-ups, and other occasions as needed.
- Collect solid and contaminated waste; seal boxes used for contaminated waste in the area where the waste is generated; deliver boxes to designated areas and to the compactor area.
- Use department procedures for preparation and selection of cleaning solutions; report low supply of inventory to supervisor or team leader; sign equipment in and out of designated storage areas; keep housekeeping cart clean, stocked, and orderly; report any malfunctioning equipment to supervisor or team leader; deliver soiled mops, cleaning cloths, and linen to designated areas.
Required Qualifications
- Some high school education required.
- 0–1 year of related work experience required.
- Basic familiarity with computers and ability to navigate at a basic level within web‑based applications.

Physical Nature Of The Job
Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally or up to 20 pounds of force frequently. The job is physical in nature and requires standing and moving around for the majority of the shift.
Pay Range
$17.00 – $22.88 per hour. The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, which may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law. Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
